Gabriel groggily opened his eyes, the room spinning slightly as he adjusted to the morning light. He turned his head to the other side of the bed and saw her, Davina, her red hair splayed out on the pillow, her curves on full display. He remembered the night before, the drinks, the flirtation, and the eventual tumble into bed together.
He slipped out of bed, trying not to wake her, and made his way to the bathroom. He splashed cold water on his face, trying to clear the fog of the previous night. His mind raced, thinking about the possibility of Davina being pregnant. He already had a child, Mikey, with his late wife and didn't know if he was ready for another one.
He took a deep breath and went back to the bedroom. Davina was starting to stir, her green eyes fluttering open. "Morning, boss," she said, a small smile playing on her lips.
Gabriel returned her smile, but his mind was still preoccupied. Davina noticed and asked him what was wrong. He hesitated, but then decided to tell her about his concerns.
Davina burst out laughing, "You think I'm gonna trap you with a baby? Oh, please. I may be a nanny, but I'm not stupid."
Gabriel couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. He felt relieved and started to relax. Davina got up and started to get dressed. Gabriel watched her, admiring her strength and control.
"I'm gonna go make some coffee. You better get dressed before Mikey sees you," she said, throwing a playful insult his way.
Gabriel got up and started to get dressed. He couldn't help but think about the previous night and how it changed his perspective of Davina. As they both headed downstairs, Gabriel could feel the tension between them. He knew that things would never be the same between them.
They sat in the kitchen, drinking coffee and making small talk. The tension between them was palpable, but they both acted as if nothing happened. Gabriel couldn't help but feel a strong attraction towards Davina. He knew that he had to figure out a way to navigate this new dynamic between them.
Davina looked at him, her green eyes piercing, "You know, Gabriel, last night was fun, but let's not make it a habit."
Gabriel nodded, "I understand."
But as he looked at her, he couldn't help but think that one night with Davina would never be enough.
