Claudia and Sofia strolled through the zoo, their laughter echoing through the enclosures as they marveled at the creatures within. Claudia, a striking woman in her late forties, ran a hand through her short, graying hair as she turned to Sofia, a few years her junior and just as captivating.
"Can you believe people actually pay to see this?" Claudia asked, a smirk playing on her lips as she gestured toward a nearby exhibit. Sofia chuckled, her dark eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Some people find joy in the simple things, Claudia."
As they moved to the next exhibit, Claudia's eyes caught a young man, no older than eighteen, watching them from a distance. She rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath, "Ew, a child."
Sofia, noticing Claudia's discomfort, suggested they move on. Claudia agreed, but not before casting a harsh glare in the boy's direction. As they walked away, the boy approached, attempting to engage them in conversation about the animals. Claudia, unimpressed, cut him off mid-sentence.
"You must be new to the zoo, kid. Animals aren't the only things that roar around here." The boy, taken aback, tried to laugh it off, but Claudia's icy demeanor made it clear she was not interested.
Sofia, sensing the tension, thanked the boy for his kind words and gently guided Claudia away. Claudia, still fuming, turned back to the boy and, in a sudden burst of anger, slapped him across the face. The boy, shocked and hurt, ran off, leaving Claudia and Sofia to continue their day.
Claudia, immediately regretting her actions, turned to Sofia with a look of guilt and apology. Sofia, disappointed but understanding, consoled Claudia, reminding her that she was not one to let her emotions get the best of her. Claudia, still feeling guilty, suggested they leave and spend the rest of the day at home.
