Jane and Mark sat back in their chairs, both of them heaving sighs of relief as they looked at the finished project on the computer screen. It was late, but neither of them felt the least bit tired.
"Want to grab a drink and talk about something other than work for a change?" Jane suggested, glancing at the clock on the wall.
Mark nodded, and they gathered their things and headed downstairs to the empty lower floor. Jane settled on the couch, and Mark took a chair across from her. They started talking about their lives, and Jane cracked a joke about Mark's love life.
"At least I'm not stuck in a boring marriage," Mark shot back, a playful smile on his face.
Jane raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? You think being married is boring? Try being married for as long as I have and see if you still feel the same way."
Mark laughed. "Alright, alright. You got me there. But I bet you haven't had a wild night in years."
Jane leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eye. "You think so? Let me tell you about the time I..."
And so, the two of them found themselves in a full-blown contest of who had the craziest sex story. Jane told tales of wild one-night stands and steamy vacations, leaving Mark in awe.
"I can't believe you've done all that," he said, shaking his head in disbelief.
Jane just shrugged. "I like to live life to the fullest. What about you, Mark? You must have some good stories."
Mark started to tell a story about a wild one-night stand, but Jane stopped him. "That's nothing. Let me tell you about the time I..."
The conversation turned into a discussion about their past experiences and fantasies. Jane started getting more and more comfortable, and Mark couldn't help but notice the way she was looking at him.
"Have you ever thought about being with someone other than your husband?" Mark asked, his voice low and steady.
Jane hesitated for a moment, then admitted that she had, but never acted on it.
Mark leaned in closer. "What if I told you that I've always thought about you in a way that goes beyond just coworkers?"
Jane looked at him, surprised but intrigued.
Mark took a deep breath. "What if I told you that I've always wanted to kiss you?"
Jane, feeling bold and empowered, leaned in and kissed him. And that's where the first chapter ends, with the two coworkers embarking on a new and unexpected journey.
