The coffee shop was bustling with activity, the aroma of freshly brewed lattes filling the air. Marianne, Martha, and Susan sat huddled in a cozy corner, their laughter and lively conversation causing a few heads to turn in their direction.
Marianne, a striking woman in her late forties, brought up the topic of relationships. "You know what my ideal partner is?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Someone with a youthful spirit, petite, and adorable."
Martha, a well-seasoned woman in her sixties, scoffed. "Young ones? They're not attractive, Marianne. They're too immature and self-absorbed."
Susan, a vibrant woman in her early fifties, chimed in. "Yeah, a woman of your age couldn't possibly be attracted to youth."
Marianne felt a pang of offense but brushed it off. "I can't help who I'm attracted to," she said, her voice steady.
As they continued their conversation, Marianne's gaze drifted towards the window. Across the street, she noticed a young boy, no more than 25, admiring the animals at the zoo. Her heart skipped a beat as she took in his youthful spirit and adorable features.
Martha and Susan noticed Marianne's distraction and teased her. "Cougar," Martha said, winking. "You have a type."
Marianne playfully insulted her friends back. "Jealous, much? You're just upset because you can't keep up with my youthful spirit."
As they continued to banter, Marianne couldn't take her eyes off the boy at the zoo. She felt a romantic attraction towards him that she couldn't ignore.
Excusing herself from the table, Marianne stepped outside. She saw the boy again, still admiring the animals. She couldn't help but approach him.
"Hi there," she said, her voice confident. "What's your favorite animal?"
The boy was taken aback by Marianne's directness but was charmed by her curiosity. "The monkeys," he said, smiling. "They're so playful and mischievous."
Marianne laughed. "I can see why you like them. You seem like a bit of a monkey yourself."
They continued to talk, and Marianne could feel the spark between them growing stronger. She invited the boy to join her and her friends for a drink, and he happily accepted.
As they walked back to the coffee shop, Marianne couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. She knew her friends would tease her, but she didn't care. She had found someone who embodied her ideal partner, and she wasn't going to let him slip away.
