The sun had long since set, and the streets of the neighborhood were bathed in a dull, orange glow from the streetlights. Akane walked up the path to her small, cramped home, her muscles aching from a grueling day of gymnastics practice. She dug into her bag for her keys, her mind still focused on the new routine she had been working on.
As she opened the door, she was greeted by the sight of her mother, slouched on the couch with a bottle of alcohol in hand. Next to her was her mother's latest boyfriend, a creepy, middle-aged man who never failed to make Akane feel uncomfortable.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in," her mother slurred, taking a swig from the bottle. "How was your little practice, slut?"
Akane rolled her eyes, used to her mother's cruel words. "It was great, mom. I'm finally getting the hang of that new routine."
The boyfriend leered at her, his eyes lingering on her flat stomach. "I bet you are. You're definitely getting knocked up at a young age."
Akane couldn't help but notice the huge bulge in his pants and wondered if he was thinking about doing inappropriate things to her. She shot him a playful insult, trying to diffuse the situation. "At least I didn't have to pay for it."
Her mother's eyes narrowed. "Who's the father, huh? You better not be letting some random guy knock you up."
Akane reluctantly revealed the truth. "It's Nekomaru, mom. He's my best friend and my coach."
Her mother and her boyfriend were shocked, and they started making assumptions about Nekomaru's size based on the size of his bulge. Akane blushed and tried to change the subject. "Can we not talk about this right now? I'm exhausted."
Her mother started grilling her about her plans for the future, and Akane admitted that she didn't have any. She had always been focused on her gymnastics career and never thought about what she would do if she got pregnant.
Her mother and her boyfriend started arguing about what Akane should do, and Akane couldn't take it anymore. She stood up and told them to stop treating her like a child.
Her mother was taken aback by her daughter's strength and directness. She realized that Akane was no longer the little girl she used to know, and she needed to start treating her with respect.
Akane's mother apologized for her behavior and told Akane that she'll support her no matter what. Akane was relieved and thanked her mother.
The boyfriend, however, was still leering at Akane. She couldn't stand it anymore and told him to leave.
The boyfriend was shocked and tried to argue, but Akane stood her ground. She told him that she won't tolerate any inappropriate behavior from him.
The boyfriend finally left, and Akane's mother thanked her for standing up for herself. Akane smiled and realized that she's stronger than she thought.
She went to her room and lies down on her bed. She thinks about Nekomaru and how they're going to raise their child together.
Akane falls asleep, dreaming about the future and the challenges that lie ahead. She knows that it won't be easy, but she's ready to face them head-on.
