The research lab was bustling with activity as Amara played contentedly on the floor, stacking and knocking down her colorful blocks. She was blissfully unaware of the conversation happening around her, a conversation that involved her and the two people she loved the most - Amelia, the head researcher and general, and Yeirk, Amelia's right hand man.
"I can't believe she's still clueless," one of the soldiers whispered to another, nodding in Amara's direction. "She has no idea that Amelia and Yeirk are having an affair."
"And that Amara is not General Kane's child, but Yeirk's," another soldier chimed in, his voice barely above a whisper.
Amelia's face turned serious as she listened to the conversation, her eyes narrowing. Yeirk, on the other hand, looked calm and collected, a small smile playing on his lips.
Amara knocked down her block tower with a triumphant giggle, causing Amelia to turn her attention away from the gossiping soldiers.
"You little troublemaker," Amelia said, walking over to Amara with a fond smile. "What have you done now?"
Yeirk chuckled, amused by the situation. "She's just a child, Amelia. Don't be so hard on her."
Amelia rolled her eyes, but there was a hint of a smile on her face. "You're one to talk, Yeirk. You're the one who got me into this mess in the first place."
Yeirk shrugged, not denying Amelia's words. "It was worth it, though. Look at her, she's perfect."
Amelia's face softened as she looked at Amara, her love for her child clear in her eyes. "Yes, she is."
The tension in the room dissipated as the researchers and soldiers returned to their work, leaving Amelia and Yeirk alone with Amara. The little secret they shared was still safe, for now.
As Amelia and Yeirk continued to talk, Amara returned to her blocks, unaware of the conversation and the love that surrounded her. She was just a child, innocent and oblivious to the world of adults and their secrets.
