The grand hall of Mount Olympus was alive with the chatter of gods and goddesses, but the conversation that held my attention was the one between Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and her children, Leonidas and Piper. Their tan skin and dark brown hair were a beautiful contrast to the typical Greek features of the other immortals.
As I approached, I couldn't help but interject with a mocking comment. "Ah, Aphrodite, I never took you for the type to have a drunken one-night stand. And Mexican, no less! Your children are quite the exotic mix."
Aphrodite's eyes flashed with anger, and before I could react, Hephaestus, the Mexican god of fire and the father of Leonidas and Piper, was by her side. "Momus, you will not speak of my children in such a manner," he growled.
Aphrodite placed a hand on Hephaestus' arm, her voice steady and strong. "They are not a mistake, Momus. They are a blessing."
I scoffed, unable to resist a jab. "A blessing? More like a constant reminder of your own pleasures, rather than any responsibility you have to your children."
Aphrodite's eyes narrowed, and she retaliated with a sharp tongue. "You are a small-minded, petty god, Momus. Always quick to criticize, never willing to create. You will never understand the true meaning of love, for you are destined to be alone."
The insult struck a nerve, and I attempted to apologize. "Aphrodite, I-"
But she was not willing to accept it. "You are no longer welcome in my presence, Momus. Leave now."
Defeated and humiliated, I left the grand hall, leaving Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and their children to continue their conversation in peace.
Aphrodite, in a playful tone, told her children that they were the light of her life and that she would always love them.
Leonidas and Piper, in response, told Aphrodite that they loved her too and that they were proud to be her children.
The scene ended with Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and their children laughing and enjoying each other's company, a stark contrast to the tension that still lingered in the air after my departure. It was clear that Aphrodite was a strong, controlling and direct woman, and that her children were the center of her world. And despite my attempts to stir up drama, it was clear that their bond was unbreakable.
