The delivery room was a flurry of activity as Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war, lay on the bed, her brown hair fanned out on the pillow. She had opted for modern medicine to assist in the birth of her twins, a decision that had raised eyebrows amongst the other gods and goddesses.
"Athena, do you want the father of your twins present for the birth?" the doctor asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
Athena smirked at the memory of her one-night stand with Hercules. "No, thank you. I'd like to maintain my dignity," she replied, her voice laced with sarcasm.
After four hours of labor, Athena gave birth to two beautiful babies. The first one, Telemachus, had brown hair and grey eyes, just like his mother. He latched onto her breast immediately, showing a strong instinct. The second baby, Annabeth, had blonde hair and grey eyes. She refused to breastfeed, much to Athena's amusement. "You're just like your mother, independent and stubborn," Athena murmured, a small smile playing on her lips.
The midwife, who had assisted in the delivery, was taken aback by Athena's strength and directness. "It's unusual for a goddess to give birth in such a way," she commented, her eyes wide with wonder.
Athena chuckled, "I may be a goddess, but I'm also a woman. And women have been giving birth since the beginning of time."
The midwife nodded in agreement, impressed by Athena's resilience. "Do you need any pain relief?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Athena scoffed, "I am the goddess of war. I can handle a little thing like childbirth."
The doctor and midwife exchanged glances, both in awe of Athena's ability to handle the pain without any assistance. "You're handling the pain with ease," the doctor commented, admiration in his voice.
Athena snorted, "I may have taken a vow of chastity, but I'm not a stranger to pain."
As the doctor and midwife left the room, Athena couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. She held her twins in her arms, feeling a surge of love and protection. "Welcome to the world, my little warriors," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion.
Her friends and family soon arrived to visit Athena and the twins. They were shocked to see Athena with two babies. "I may be a goddess, but I'm also a woman," Athena said, a small smile playing on her lips.
Her friends and family were curious about the father of the twins, but Athena remained tight-lipped. She wasn't ready to reveal her one-night stand with Hercules.
As the visitors left, Athena was left alone with her thoughts. She looked at her twins, feeling a sense of peace and contentment. "I may be a goddess, but I'm also a mother. And that's enough for me," she thought, her heart filled with love.
The twins began to cry, needing to be fed. Athena breastfed Telemachus and gave Annabeth a bottle. She marveled at the miracle of motherhood. "I may be a goddess, but I'm also a mother," she thought, her heart swelling with pride.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. It was Hercules, the father of her twins. Athena glared at him, "What are you doing here?"
Hercules looked at Athena with a mixture of guilt and longing. "I heard about the twins. I wanted to see them," he stammered.
Athena rolled her eyes, "You had your chance. Now, leave me alone."
Hercules left, leaving Athena alone with her thoughts. She looked at her twins, feeling a sense of peace and contentment. "I may have made a mistake, but I won't let it define me," she thought, her heart filled with love and determination.
