The sun had barely risen when Suzi burst into Kai's room, yanking the blankets off his sleeping form. "Come on, lazybones," she said, her voice sharp with annoyance. "It's time to go see the doctor."
Kai groaned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Do we have to go today?" he asked, his voice thick with exhaustion.
Suzi crossed her arms, her expression stern. "Yes, we do," she said. "The doctor's been trying to schedule this physical exam for weeks. You're not going to blow it off now."
Kai sighed, knowing he was defeated. He swung his legs out of bed and began to get dressed, his mind still foggy with sleep.
