Bare Essentials: A Touchy University Tale

### Chapter One: Bare Necessities

The morning sun sliced through the blinds of Max’s dorm room, casting stripes of light across his bare skin. He groaned, rolling over on his thin mattress, the scratchy sheets barely clinging to his naked form. Another day as the campus freak show. No clothes, no choice, just him and his birthday suit against the world. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, muttering, “Great. Another 24 hours of being the university’s resident streaker. Lucky me.”

Dragging himself out of bed, Max shuffled toward the communal bathroom, his bare feet slapping against the cold linoleum. The hallway was already buzzing with early risers, and as he passed by open doors, the usual chorus of catcalls and laughter erupted. A guy from the end of the hall, towel slung low on his hips, grinned and reached out with a playful slap to Max’s backside. “Morning, sunshine! Giving us the full view already?”

Max dodged another pinch from a giggling co-ed, shooting her a half-hearted glare. “Keep your hands to yourself, Jenny. I’m not a petting zoo.” She just winked, blowing him a kiss as he pushed into the bathroom.

Standing in front of the mirror, Max took a long, hard look at himself. Tousled brown hair, a lean frame that was more wiry than muscular, and not a stitch of fabric to hide a damn thing. He smirked bitterly, running a hand through his hair. “Well, at least I’m saving on laundry. Campus anatomy lesson, reporting for duty.” He sighed, splashing cold water on his face, bracing for the inevitable gauntlet of stares and snickers waiting outside.

The trek to the lecture hall was a familiar torture. The crisp morning air bit at his exposed skin, raising goosebumps as he crossed the quad. Students milled about, some offering casual nods, others letting their eyes linger a little too long. A girl on a bike slowed down, her gaze unabashed as she called out, “Looking good, Max! Don’t catch a cold now!” He waved her off with a forced grin, muttering under his breath, “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. I’m a walking weather report.”

Inside the lecture hall, Max squeezed into a seat near the back, hoping to blend into the sea of backpacks and hoodies. No such luck. The guy next to him, a lanky dude with a perpetual smirk, “accidentally” brushed his arm against Max’s thigh as he adjusted his notebook. “Oops, my bad,” the guy drawled, not even trying to hide his amusement.

Max shot him a side-eye. “Keep your paws to yourself, man. I’m not a touch-and-feel exhibit.” The guy just chuckled, leaning back with a shrug as the professor strode in.

Dr. Hargrove, a stern woman in her fifties, didn’t bat an eye at Max’s nudity. She launched into her biology lecture with clinical precision, flipping through slides of the human muscular system. At one point, she gestured toward Max with her pointer stick, not even glancing his way. “If you’ll observe, the gluteus maximus, as exemplified here, is crucial for posture and movement.”

Max sank lower in his seat, his face burning as a ripple of laughter spread through the room. *Great. I’m a living textbook now,* he thought, gritting his teeth. He swatted away a sneaky hand from the girl behind him, whispering, “Seriously? Focus on the damn slide.”

But the real challenge came from Jace, a bold junior with a predatory grin, who leaned over from the next row. His voice was a low, teasing murmur. “Damn, Max, those ‘assets’ of yours are distracting as hell. Why don’t you stand up and give us a better view? I’m taking notes for… personal study.”

Max turned, his eyes narrowing as he fired back, “Listen, Jace, I’m not your personal art exhibit. If you’re such a desperate critic, go sketch someone who actually volunteered.” His cheeks flamed, but he shifted away, crossing his arms over his chest like that could shield him from the attention.

When the lecture finally ended, Max bolted for the door, desperate for escape. But freedom was short-lived. A group of jocks blocked his path in the hallway, their grins wide and obnoxious. One of them, a beefy linebacker named Travis, clapped a heavy hand on Max’s shoulder, letting it slide a little too low. “Yo, Max, give us some posing tips, man. How do you keep everything so… on display?”

Max rolled his eyes, shrugging off the touch with a scowl. “Maybe find better hobbies, Travis. Groping for grades isn’t gonna get you on the dean’s list.” He pushed through the crowd, ignoring their laughter as he made a beeline for the campus courtyard.

He just wanted a moment to breathe, to sit on a bench and pretend he wasn’t the university’s unwilling sideshow. But the courtyard was no sanctuary. Curious onlookers gathered, some snapping covert photos, others whispering and pointing like he was a zoo exhibit. Max slumped onto a bench, rubbing his temples. “Un-freaking-believable.”

And then came Riley, a cheeky senior with a reputation for trouble. She sauntered over, her hips swaying with purpose, a mischievous glint in her dark eyes. Her voice dripped with playful malice as she leaned down, hands on her knees, giving him a full view of her smirk. “Well, well, if it isn’t the campus mascot. You know, Max, I could use a private tour of… everything. What do you say? Show me the sights up close?”

Max straightened, meeting her gaze with a sharp glare. “Riley, you’re a walking thirst trap with no filter. How about you tour someone who’s actually buying what you’re selling? I’m not on the market.” His tone was biting, but his heart raced under her unrelenting stare.

Riley just laughed, straightening up with a mock pout. “Ouch, Max. You wound me. But I’ll wear you down eventually. Everyone’s got a price.” She winked, turning on her heel and strutting off, leaving him to stew in his frustration.

Max leaned back on the bench, staring up at the sky as a resigned sigh escaped him. “Another day as the university’s star attraction. Survive this, Max. Just survive.” His muttered words faded into the breeze, a quiet promise to himself that he’d make it through, bare necessities and all.
