Chapter 1: Stripping Down to Business
Luna Parker had never been one to shy away from a challenge, but as she stood at the wrought-iron gates of Bare Haven Bed & Breakfast, her heart raced with a cocktail of nerves and raw excitement. The sign above the entrance read, 'Clothing Optional – Embrace Your Freedom,' and Luna was about to do just that. At 29, with a sharp tongue and a sharper mind, she’d taken the job as the new manager of this quirky, nude-friendly retreat in the heart of wine country. It was a chance to reinvent herself after a messy breakup, but she hadn’t anticipated the sheer vulnerability of baring it all—literally.
Inside the ivy-covered lobby, she was greeted by Theo, the tanned, infuriatingly confident groundskeeper who’d clearly spent too much time in the sun without a stitch on. His smirk was as naked as the rest of him, and Luna couldn’t help but notice the way his muscles flexed as he leaned against the counter, completely at ease.
“So, you’re the new boss lady,” Theo drawled, his hazel eyes raking over her still-clothed form with a teasing glint. “Gonna keep that blazer on, or are you ready to join the free spirits?”
Luna arched a brow, refusing to let her cheeks flush under his gaze. “I’ll strip when I’m good and ready, sunshine. Until then, keep your eyes on my face, not my assets.”
Theo chuckled, low and throaty. “Fair enough. But just so you know, around here, hesitation’s the only thing that’s embarrassing. Skin’s just skin.”
“Easy for you to say,” Luna shot back, adjusting her pencil skirt with a defiant tug. “You’ve got the whole Greek god thing going on. Some of us need a minute to adjust to the idea of parading around with everything on display.”
“Parading?” Theo grinned, stepping closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Darlin’, it’s liberation. Wait ‘til you feel the breeze on places you didn’t know could feel so... alive.”
Luna rolled her eyes, but a spark of curiosity—and something hotter—flickered in her chest. She wasn’t about to let this cocky bastard see her squirm. “Keep talking, Theo. I’ll be running this place bare-assed before you can say ‘sunscreen.’ But first, show me to my office. I’ve got work to do.”
He led her down a sunlit corridor, past guests lounging without a care or a thread, and Luna felt the weight of her clothes growing heavier with every step. By the time they reached her office—a small, airy room with a view of the vineyard—she was sweating, and not just from the summer heat. Theo lingered in the doorway, his presence as bold as his nudity.
“Last chance to back out,” he teased, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “Or are you gonna dive in headfirst?”
Luna met his challenge with a smirk of her own, her fingers already working the buttons of her blazer. “Oh, I’m diving in, alright. But don’t think for a second I’m doing it for you. This is my turf now, and I play by my rules.”
As the fabric slipped from her shoulders, revealing the lace of her bra, Theo’s smirk faltered into something hungrier. Luna felt a rush of power, her skin prickling with anticipation. She wasn’t just shedding clothes; she was shedding inhibitions. And as she stepped closer to him, her voice dropped to a sultry purr. “Now, are you gonna stand there gawking, or are you gonna help me get comfortable?”
Theo’s breath hitched, and Luna knew she had him. The air between them crackled, charged with a heat that had nothing to do with the sun. She could feel herself getting wet with the thrill of it, her body responding to the raw, unspoken promise in his eyes. Whatever happened next, she was ready to take control—and maybe, just maybe, let herself get a little wild.
