Chapter 1: Tangled Prey
The rocky plains stretched endlessly under a bruised sky, jagged cliffs clawing at the horizon. Adam, a lanky fifteen-year-old with a mop of unruly brown hair, trudged forward, his worn boots kicking up dust. His heart wasn’t in this monster-hunting gig—truth be told, he’d rather be sketching wildflowers than swinging a rusty sword. But a boy’s gotta eat, and the king’s bounty on the legendary bandit-beasts was too tempting to pass up.
He spotted them near a cascading waterfall, their silhouettes framed by the mist. Five figures, each a mesmerizing blend of human and beast, lounged with predatory grace. Ela, the dragon-woman, her black scales glinting like obsidian, stretched her powerful limbs, wings folded tight against her curvaceous frame. Megg, the shark-woman, grinned with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, her gray skin shimmering with moisture. Orka, the orca-woman, leaned against a boulder, her sleek, muscular body a study in raw power. Lu, the wolf-woman, flicked her silver tail, amber eyes glinting with mischief, while Mus, the snake-woman, coiled her serpentine lower half, her forked tongue darting out to taste the air. Their forms were lush, voluptuous, and utterly untamed—Adam’s breath hitched, a mix of fear and something… hotter.
'Just toss the net and run,' he muttered to himself, fumbling with the coarse rope in his trembling hands. He crept closer, heart pounding, and with a clumsy heave, launched the net. It sailed beautifully—for about two seconds—before tangling around his own legs. With a yelp, he tumbled down the rocky slope, landing in a heap at their feet.
'Well, well, what do we have here?' Ela purred, her voice a smoky growl as she crouched down, her clawed hand tilting his chin up. 'A little hunter, all wrapped up like a gift.'
Adam’s cheeks burned. 'I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean—'
'Oh, hush, sweetling,' Megg interrupted, her sharp grin widening as she circled him, fins slicing through the air. 'You meant to trap us, didn’t you? But look at you now, all helpless and cute.'
Orka chuckled, deep and resonant, crossing her thick arms over her ample chest. 'He’s barely a snack, let alone a threat. What do you say, girls? Shall we keep him as our pet?'
'Pet?' Adam squeaked, struggling against the net, his gangly limbs only tangling further. 'I’m not—'
'Ah, ah, no backtalk,' Lu cut in, her wolfish growl laced with playful menace as she knelt beside him, her furred tail brushing his cheek. 'Good boys listen. And if you’re very good, we might just be… nice.'
Mus slithered closer, her emerald eyes glinting with hunger, her voice a sibilant whisper. 'Yesss, be a good boy, and we’ll take such good care of you. Disobey, and… well, we bite.'
Adam swallowed hard, his pulse racing as their presence overwhelmed him—their heat, their scent, the sheer power radiating from their lush, animalistic bodies. He was outmatched, outmaneuvered, and—damn it—starting to feel a dangerous stir in his core. Ela’s claws traced his jaw, her touch both tender and threatening, while Megg’s finned hand grazed his arm, sending shivers down his spine.
'Let’s unwrap our little prize,' Ela murmured, her voice dripping with intent as she tugged at the net. 'I bet he’s got all sorts of surprises under these rags.'
Adam’s breath hitched as the net began to loosen, their hands—clawed, scaled, furred—brushing against him with deliberate slowness. His mind screamed to run, but his body… his body was already surrendering to the heat building inside him, their commanding gazes pinning him in place. He was their prey, their plaything, and as their touches grew bolder, he knew there was no escaping the wildfire about to ignite.
