The cozy living room of the suburban home was filled with the comfortable hum of the central air conditioning and the flickering glow of the TV. Nick, a lanky fourteen-year-old, flipped through the channels with the remote, his eyes scanning the screen for something decent to watch. He sighed in frustration as he landed on yet another episode of some mind-numbing cartoon.
Just as he was about to give up and head to his room, Kaylee, a petite ten-year-old with a mischievous glint in her eyes, entered the room. Her developing chest bounced slightly with each step, and she wore a frilly pink dress that made her look even younger than she was.
Nick rolled his eyes at Kaylee's choice of outfit. "You look like a little princess," he said, unable to keep the sarcasm out of his voice.
Kaylee stuck her tongue out at him. "You wish you were a prince, Nicky," she retorted, using the childhood nickname he hated.
Nick feigned outrage. "Hey, I'm practically a man now. I don't need to be a prince."
Kaylee giggled, clearly not convinced. "Oh yeah? Then why are you still watching cartoons?"
Nick looked down at the TV, embarrassed. "Shut up, Kaylee."
Kaylee grinned, enjoying her victory. She plopped down on the couch next to him, her dress riding up to reveal her smooth, tanned legs.
Nick tried not to stare, but it was hard. He'd never really noticed how developed Kaylee was for her age. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat, trying to adjust himself without being too obvious.
Kaylee noticing him looking and smirked. "Like what you see, Nicky?" she asked, batting her eyelashes innocently.
Nick blushed, feeling a stirring in his pants. "Shut up, Kaylee," he repeated, but his voice was softer this time.
Kaylee giggled again, then reached over and put her hand on his thigh. "What's the matter, Nicky? Afraid of a little girl?"
Nick swallowed hard, trying to ignore the feeling of Kaylee's hand on his leg. "Kaylee, stop it," he said, his voice shaking slightly.
Kaylee ignored him, instead sliding her hand up higher until it was resting on his crotch. "Wow, Nicky," she said, her voice full of mock surprise. "I think someone's excited."
Nick felt a surge of anger and embarrassment. He grabbed Kaylee's hand and pushed it away. "Kaylee, that's not funny. Stop it."
Kaylee pouted, looking disappointed. "Fine, be a party pooper," she said, crossing her arms.
Nick sighed, feeling relieved but also a little confused. He didn't know what had come over Kaylee, but he was glad she had stopped. He turned his attention back to the TV, trying to focus on the show, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of Kaylee's hand on his leg.
Just then, the front door opened, and their babysitter, a college-aged girl named Sarah, walked in. She was tall and athletic, with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She wore a tight-fitting t-shirt and short shorts, showing off her toned legs.
Nick felt his heart rate quicken as he watched her walk in. He'd always had a crush on Sarah, but he'd never had the guts to tell her.
Sarah smiled at them. "Hey guys, having fun?" she asked.
Nick and Kaylee nodded, trying to act normal.
Sarah raised an eyebrow. "What have you two been up to?" she asked, a playful smile on her lips.
Nick felt his face heat up. "N-nothing," he stammered.
Kaylee grinned. "Just hanging out," she said, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
Sarah looked at them for a moment, then shrugged. "Alright, well, I'm going to go upstairs and take a shower. You two be good, okay?"
Nick and Kaylee nodded again, watching as Sarah walked up the stairs.
Once she was out of sight, Kaylee turned to Nick. "You know what I think?" she asked, her voice low and conspiratorial.
Nick raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Kaylee leaned in closer, her breath hot on Nick's ear. "I think Sarah has a secret," she whispered.
Nick felt a thrill run down his spine. "What kind of secret?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kaylee shrugged. "I don't know," she said. "But I bet it's something good."
Nick felt his heart rate quicken. He couldn't help but wonder what Sarah's secret was. And more importantly, he couldn't help but wonder if it had anything to do with him.
