As she took off her gloves, she winced at the pain in her hands. She had thrown punch after punch, but Katya had managed to dodge them all. And when she had landed a hit, it had been with all the force of a sledgehammer. Lena knew she would have bruises for days.
She heard the door to the locker room open and turned to see Katya walk in, a smirk on her face as she saw Lena’s injuries. “Looks like someone couldn’t handle a little roughhousing,” she taunted.
Lena glared at Katya, gritting her teeth as she tried to hide her pain. “I couldn’t handle your cheap shots and dirty tricks,” she shot back.
Katya laughed, shaking her head. “You’re just sore because you lost. Admit it, I’m the better fighter.”
Lena snorted, rolling her eyes. “Keep telling yourself that, Katya. It’s the only thing that’ll make you feel good about yourself.”
Katya’s smile faded, and she took a step closer to Lena. “You think you’re so tough, but you’re nothing but a weak little girl.”
Lena’s eyes flashed with anger, and she stood up, towering over Katya. “I may be smaller than you, but I’m stronger. And I’ll prove it next time we fight.”
Katya chuckled, leaning against the locker. “There won’t be a next time. You’re done, Lena. I’ve beaten you, and I’ll beat you again.”
Lena’s jaw clenched, and she took a deep breath. “We’ll see about that. I’m not going down without a fight.”
Katya’s smirk returned. “Oh, I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be even more fun watching you lose again.”
Lena’s eyes narrowed, and she took a step towards Katya. “You’re on, Katya. But this time, I won’t hold back.”
Katya’s eyes lit up with excitement. “I can’t wait. It’s going to be a bloodbath.”
Lena’s lips curled into a smile. “You have no idea.”
Katya took a step back, still smiling. “I can’t wait to see you try.”
Lena turned away, heading towards the showers. “You’ll see soon enough.”
As she stepped under the hot water, Lena couldn’t shake the feeling of determination that was building inside of her. She would not let Katya beat her again. She would train harder, fight smarter, and come back stronger. She would show Katya, and everyone else, that she was a force to be reckoned with.
Lena stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her body. She looked at herself in the mirror, seeing the bruises and cuts that covered her body. But she didn’t see defeat. She saw a challenge, and she was ready to take it on.
As she dressed, she couldn’t help but think about the next time she would face Katya in the ring. It would be a battle of wills, a test of strength and skill. And Lena was determined to come out on top.
She walked out of the locker room, her head held high. She may have lost this time, but she would not lose again. She was stronger, faster, and smarter than Katya. And she would prove it in the next fight.
As she walked past Katya, who was still sitting on the bench, Lena couldn’t help but smile. “See you in the ring, Katya.”
Katya returned the smile, but Lena could see the uncertainty in her eyes. She knew she had gotten under Katya’s skin, and that was exactly where she wanted to be.
Lena walked out of the locker room, ready to take on the world. She was a fighter, and she would never back down. She would show everyone what she was made of, and she would do it with style and grace.
