**Chapter 1: The Gilded Cage**
Sree stood at the towering window of Norris Mansion, her sharp eyes tracing the iron gates that marked the boundary of her world. At twenty-two, she was no longer the trembling girl who’d been brought here at twelve, promised to Lando Norris, the most feared mafia lord in the city. She’d grown into a woman of steel, her beauty a weapon, her mind a blade. The mansion was her cage, but she’d learned to navigate its shadows, to play the game of power with a smile that could kill.
The heavy oak door creaked open behind her, and she didn’t need to turn to know it was him. Lando’s presence was a storm, dark and electric, filling the room before he even spoke. She could smell the faint musk of his cologne, mixed with the danger that clung to him like a second skin.
“Still staring at the gates, darling?” His voice was a low growl, laced with amusement. “Planning your escape, or just admiring the view?”
Sree turned slowly, her silk robe slipping just enough to reveal the curve of her shoulder. She met his piercing green eyes with a smirk. “If I were escaping, Lando, you’d never see me coming. I’m just wondering how many men you’ve buried beyond those gates today.”
He chuckled, stepping closer, his tailored suit doing little to hide the predator beneath. “Only three. Slow day.” His gaze raked over her, hungry and unapologetic. “You’re looking... dangerous tonight. What’s on your mind, Sree?”
She tilted her head, her dark hair cascading over one shoulder. “Power. Always power. You’ve taught me well, haven’t you? A girl grows up in a house of wolves, she learns to bite.”
Lando’s lips curled into a wicked grin as he closed the distance between them, his hand brushing against her waist. “Oh, I’ve noticed. You’ve got fangs now, love. But don’t forget who owns this house—and who owns you.”
Her eyes flashed with defiance, even as heat coiled low in her belly at his touch. “Own me? You’ve got a ring on my finger, Lando, but I’m no pet. You want me, you earn me. Every damn day.”
His grip tightened, pulling her flush against him, and she could feel the hard lines of his body pressing into hers. “Is that a challenge?” he murmured, his breath hot against her ear. “Because I’ve never backed down from one, and I’m fucking starving for you tonight.”
Sree’s pulse raced, but she didn’t flinch. Instead, she slid her hand up his chest, fingers curling into his shirt. “Then feast, Norris. But don’t think I’ll just lay down and take it. I bite back, remember?”
His eyes darkened with raw desire, and in one swift motion, he backed her against the window, the cold glass a stark contrast to the heat of his body. “Good,” he rasped, his hand sliding down to grip her thigh, hiking her robe up. “I like a fight. Makes it sweeter when you’re dripping for me.”
Her breath hitched, but her voice stayed sharp. “Keep talking, big man. Let’s see if you can back it up, or if you’re just all bark and no cock.”
Lando’s growl was feral as he crushed his lips to hers, the kiss a battle of wills, all teeth and fire. Her hands were in his hair, pulling hard, as his fingers found the edge of her lace panties, teasing the wet heat he knew was waiting. She was already aching, her body betraying her sharp tongue, and she hated how much she wanted him—how much she’d always wanted him, even as a girl dreaming of rebellion in this very house.
His other hand gripped her ass, lifting her against the glass, and she wrapped her legs around him, panting already. “Don’t stop now, Lando,” she taunted between kisses, her voice dripping with challenge. “Show me why they’re all so fucking scared of you.”
“Oh, I will,” he promised, his voice rough with lust as he ground against her, letting her feel just how hard he was. “I’m gonna make you scream my name, Sree. This whole damn mansion will hear who you belong to.”
And as his fingers slipped beneath the lace, finding her slick and ready, she knew this was only the beginning of the war—and the wildfire—between them.
