Bound by Fear

Chapter 1: Morning Heat

The first light of dawn crept through the thin curtains of Jordan’s bedroom, casting faint streaks across the tangled sheets. Jordan, a hulking figure of raw muscle at twenty-six, stirred awake, his broad chest rising and falling with a slow, steady rhythm. Beside him, Ashley, a petite twenty-two-year-old librarian with sharp eyes and a guarded demeanor, lay still, her small frame curled into itself as if she could disappear into the mattress. Her dark hair spilled over the pillow, a stark contrast to her pale skin, and her breathing was shallow, almost as if she were holding it in, waiting for something.

Jordan turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto her. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he reached out, his massive hand sliding over her waist. He pulled her close, her body stiffening under his grip. She didn’t resist, but she didn’t melt into him either. Her hazel eyes flicked open, meeting his gaze with a mix of wariness and defiance.

“Morning, babe,” he rumbled, his voice low and rough from sleep, but carrying that edge of control he always wielded like a weapon. “Sleep well?”

Ashley’s lips pressed into a thin line. “As well as I can with a bear snoring next to me,” she shot back, her tone sharp despite the tremor she tried to hide. She wasn’t one to cower, even if her situation screamed for it. Living with Jordan wasn’t her choice, not really, but running wasn’t an option. Not when he loomed over her life like a storm cloud she couldn’t outrun.

He chuckled, a deep, gravelly sound that vibrated through his chest. “Cute. You’ve got a mouth on you, Ash. I like that.” His hand tightened on her hip, pulling her flush against him. She could feel the heat of his body, the hard planes of muscle pressing into her softer curves. Her breath hitched, but she kept her face schooled, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing her squirm.

“Don’t get too comfortable,” she muttered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’ve got a library to run. Books don’t shelve themselves.”

Jordan’s smirk widened. “Oh, I’m plenty comfortable. And you’re not going anywhere just yet.” His hand slid up her side, fingers brushing the edge of her tank top, teasing the bare skin beneath. Ashley’s jaw clenched, her mind racing for a retort, but her body betrayed her with a shiver. She hated how he could do that—make her feel trapped and yet ignite something she didn’t want to name.

“Always gotta be in control, huh?” she snapped, her eyes narrowing. “What, you wake up and decide it’s time to play king of the castle?”

“Something like that,” he said, his voice dropping lower, a dangerous edge to it. His thumb traced circles on her hip, slow and deliberate. “But you’re no damsel, Ash. You’ve got fire. I can see it. Makes this more fun.”

She scoffed, rolling her eyes even as her pulse quickened. “Fun for who? You’re the one getting off on this power trip.”

Jordan’s gaze darkened, his hand moving to grip her chin, tilting her face up to meet his. “Keep talking, babe. I like hearing you fight. But we both know you’re not going anywhere.” There was a threat in his words, unspoken but heavy, and Ashley felt it settle in her chest like a stone. She hated him for it, hated the fear he inspired, but she couldn’t deny the way her body reacted to his proximity, to the raw, unapologetic strength he exuded.

Before she could fire back, he moved, his massive frame shifting with surprising speed. In one fluid motion, he rolled them over, pinning her beneath him. Her back hit the mattress, and she let out a sharp gasp, her hands instinctively pushing against his chest. It was like pushing against a brick wall—useless. His weight pressed down on her, not crushing, but firm, a reminder of who held the reins.

“Jordan,” she hissed, her voice a mix of irritation and something hotter, something she refused to acknowledge. “Get off me. I’m not in the mood for your bullshit.”

He grinned, a predatory flash of teeth. “Oh, I think you are. You just don’t wanna admit it.” His hands slid down her sides, gripping her thighs and spreading them apart as he settled between them. She could feel him, hard and insistent against her, and her breath caught despite herself. Her tank top had ridden up, exposing her stomach, and his rough fingers brushed over the sensitive skin, sending a jolt through her.

“Asshole,” she spat, but her voice wavered, and she cursed herself for it. “You think you can just take whatever you want?”

“I don’t think,” he growled, leaning down until his lips were inches from hers. “I know. But I’m not taking anything you don’t wanna give, Ash. You’re just too stubborn to say it.” His breath was hot against her skin, and she hated how it made her pulse race, how it made her body ache in ways she didn’t want to admit.

Her hands fisted in the sheets, her nails digging into the fabric as she fought the heat building inside her. “You’re delusional,” she shot back, but her words lacked the bite she wanted. His hand slipped under her shorts, fingers brushing against her, finding her already wet despite her protests. A smirk curled his lips as he felt it, and she wanted to slap it off his face.

“Delusional, huh?” he murmured, his voice dripping with smug satisfaction. “Your pussy says otherwise, babe. You’re dripping for me.”

Ashley’s face burned, anger and embarrassment warring with the undeniable arousal his touch sparked. “Fuck you,” she snapped, but her hips twitched involuntarily as his fingers teased her, sliding along her folds with maddening precision.

“Oh, I plan to,” he said, his tone dark and promising. He pulled her shorts down in one swift motion, tossing them aside, and she felt the cool air against her heated skin. Her breath came faster, her chest rising and falling as she glared up at him, refusing to break eye contact even as her body betrayed her.

Jordan shifted, freeing himself from his boxers, his cock hard and heavy as it pressed against her thigh. She swallowed, her mouth dry, but she wouldn’t look away, wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing her falter. “You’re such a prick,” she muttered, her voice husky now, laced with a need she couldn’t hide.

“And you’re horny as hell,” he shot back, positioning himself at her entrance. “Admit it, Ash. You want this as bad as I do.” His hands gripped her hips, holding her in place, and she felt the tip of him nudge against her, teasing, waiting.

She bit her lip, her defiance warring with the ache between her legs. “Just do it already,” she growled, her voice raw. “Stop talking and fuck me.”

Jordan’s grin was feral as he pushed into her, slow at first, letting her feel every inch of him. She gasped, her back arching despite herself, her hands gripping his shoulders as he filled her. He groaned, low and rough, his breath hot against her neck as he started to move, each thrust deliberate, building a rhythm that had her panting beneath him.

“Fuck, you’re tight,” he muttered, his voice strained as he picked up the pace, his hips slamming into hers. Sweat beaded on his brow, his muscles flexing with each movement, and Ashley felt her own body respond, heat coiling tight in her core.

She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of moaning, not yet, but her breaths came in sharp, ragged gasps, her nails digging into his skin. “Harder,” she demanded, her voice a challenge, and Jordan’s eyes gleamed with something dangerous as he obliged, driving into her with a force that made the bed creak beneath them.

The room filled with the sounds of their bodies colliding, of harsh breaths and stifled curses, as they pushed each other to the edge. Ashley’s defiance burned bright, even as her body surrendered to the pleasure, and Jordan reveled in it, in the fight she gave him, in the way she matched his intensity even as she hated him for it.

This was just the beginning.
