The air in Brigitte’s palace was thick with the saccharine scent of cotton candy and sugar, a fitting atmosphere for the gathering of the five goddesses. Brigitte, Aphrodite, Persephone, Hera, and Amphitrite sat around a table, sipping on sparkling cider and munching on cupcakes, their faces flushed with excitement and anticipation.
Brigitte, her eyes twinkling with mischief, decided to break the ice. “So, my dear goddesses, I’m curious - what are your pregnancy cravings?”
Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, confessed her love for chocolate-dipped strawberries, while Persephone, the goddess of spring, couldn’t get enough of pickles and ice cream. Hera, the queen of the gods, had a newfound obsession with spicy wings, and Amphitrite, the goddess of the sea, grinned as she admitted to craving nothing but fresh fish and seaweed salad.
Amphitrite chuckled, “At least our husbands don’t have to worry about us eating them out of house and home.”
Hera rolled her eyes, “Tell me about it. Zeus has been complaining about his missing steaks.”
Brigitte laughed, “At least Apollo has been nothing but supportive. He even offered to make me a candy buffet for my cravings.”
Aphrodite rolled her eyes, “Of course he did. He’s always been the god of excess.”
Persephone added, “Hades has been surprisingly calm about the twins. I think he’s just happy to have a piece of me that he can actually touch.”
The group burst into laughter, and Hera chimed in, “Well, Poseidon has been excited about our little prince, but I think he’s still in shock about the whole thing.”
Brigitte, with a mischievous smile, asked the group how they told their husbands about the pregnancy.
Aphrodite started, “I decided to have a little fun with it. I invited Hephaestus over for dinner, and when he arrived, I had a bun in the oven, waiting for him.”
Persephone laughed, “And what did he say?”
Aphrodite smirked, “He looked confused at first, but then he realized what was happening. He was so excited, I thought he was going to burst.”
Brigitte turned to Persephone, “And what about you? How did you tell Hades?”
Persephone grinned, “I simply handed him a sonogram and said, ‘Guess who’s going to be a dad again?’”
The group erupted in laughter, and Hera added, “I just told Zeus straight up. He was a little shocked, but he’s excited about the baby.”
The goddesses continued to share their stories, their laughter and joy filling the candy-coated palace. As they spoke, it became clear that each of them had a unique and special bond with their husbands, a bond that would only grow stronger with the arrival of their little ones.
As the night wore on, the goddesses toasted to their pregnancies, their futures, and the love that bound them all together. And as they sipped their sparkling cider, they knew that they were embarking on a new and exciting chapter in their lives, one filled with love, laughter, and the sweetness of new beginnings.
