Buns in the Oven: A Goddesses' Guide to Pregnancy Cravings, Hilarious Husbands, and Unexpected Twins

Chapter One: Buns in the Oven

The goddesses had gathered in Brigitte's candy-coated palace, a dazzling display of pastel hues and sweets that seemed to have been pulled straight from a child's dream. The air was thick with the scent of sugar and spices, as the goddesses indulged in an array of decadent treats, each one designed to satisfy their unique cravings.

Brigitte, the hostess with the mostest, sat at the head of the table, her long blonde curls cascading down her shoulders as she savored a slice of chocolate cake. "I don't know why people say pregnancy makes you give up your vices," she said, a wicked gleam in her eye. "I've never eaten more chocolate in my life."

Aphrodite, her pregnancy glow on full display, sat to Brigitte's right, a plate of strawberries and cream in front of her. "Speak for yourself, Brigitte," she said, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm. "I can't resist a good cannoli, no matter how pregnant I am."

Hera, who was seated across from Aphrodite, rolled her eyes. "You say that now, but just wait until you're my size," she said, patting her round belly. "I can't resist anything sweet during pregnancy. It's a curse, I tell you."

Aphrodite couldn't resist the bait. "Oh, poor Hera," she said, feigning sympathy. "Is it really so hard to resist a little sugar when you have Zeus at your beck and call?"

Hera snorted. "Please. Zeus is the last person I want to see when I'm craving something sweet. He'd probably try to eat the whole thing himself."

The goddesses erupted in laughter, imagining the king of the gods devouring an entire cake in one sitting.

Brigitte shared her own story of telling Apollo about her pregnancy, a mischievous grin on her face. "I baked a literal 'bun in the oven' and asked him to guess its meaning. The look on his face was priceless."

The goddesses erupted in laughter once again, picturing the sun god's confusion.

Amphitrite revealed that she told Poseidon about her pregnancy by throwing him a surprise party and revealing the news in a dramatic fashion. "He was so shocked, but then he was over the moon when he found out it was a boy."

Persephone described her own experience of telling Hades about the twins, her voice softening as she spoke. "He was initially shocked, but then his face lit up with excitement. He couldn't wait to meet them."

Hera, the last to share, admitted that she simply told Zeus directly. "I didn't see the need for any fanfare. He was excited, of course, but he didn't understand why I couldn't just tell him like a normal person."

The goddesses teased Hera for her straightforwardness, but they all knew that was just Hera's way.

The conversation turned to the gods' reactions to the genders of their children.

Aphrodite playfully insulted Hephaestus, her ex-husband, for his lack of enthusiasm upon learning that he would be a father to twins. "He was about as excited as a rock. I think he was more interested in the mechanics of how it all happened than the actual babies."

Amphitrite shared that Poseidon was thrilled to learn that he would have a son to carry on his legacy. "He can't wait to teach him how to ride the waves and command the sea."

Persephone described Hades' pride upon learning that he would be a father to two boys. "He's already planning their lessons in the underworld. He wants them to be strong and powerful, just like him."

Brigitte revealed that Apollo was overjoyed at the prospect of having a son, but was equally excited about the idea of a daughter. "He wants a little girl to dote on and teach music to. He's already planning her first lyre."

The goddesses continued to share stories and indulge in treats, their friendship strengthened by their shared experiences.

As the potluck came to a close, the goddesses made plans to reconvene and share more stories, eager to support one another through their pregnancies.

For all their differences, the goddesses were united in their joy and excitement for the new life growing inside of them. And as they said their goodbyes, each one left with a renewed sense of strength and confidence, knowing that they were not alone in this journey.
