The halls of Olympus echoed with the click-clack of sandals against the cool marble floor. Cady, the light brown-haired, green-eyed goddess of inventions and technology, strolled with purpose, her hips swaying gently. She was used to the whispers and giggles that followed her, the other gods and goddesses unable to hide their fascination and curiosity. After all, she was a rare breed - a goddess who preferred the company of mortals and their inventions over the petty games of the divine.
As she turned a corner, Cady's keen ears picked up on a conversation that made her pause.
"Darling, I heard the most delicious rumor about Cady," a sultry voice cooed. Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, approached Cady with a smug smile on her perfectly sculpted face. Her long, golden hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of sunlight, her blue eyes sparkling with mischief.
Cady raised an eyebrow, her interest piqued. "Oh? Do tell, Aphrodite. I'm sure it's just as juicy as the gossip about your own love life."
Aphrodite's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. "Well, it seems that someone will be adding a new member to their family soon," she said, her voice dripping with honey.
Cady's face lit up with understanding. "Ah, you mean my pregnancy. Yes, it's true. I'm going to be a mother."
The other gods and goddesses gasped in shock, their eyes wide with disbelief. Aphrodite's smile turned into a sneer. "You? A mother? Who could have possibly fathered your child, Cady? Surely not one of the worthy gods here."
Cady's eyes flashed with anger. "As a matter of fact, it was Hephaestus. He was there for me when you and your lover, Ares, cheated on him. He's a kind and gentle soul, unlike some people I know."
Aphrodite scoffed. "Hephaestus? The ugly and infertile god of fire? Don't make me laugh, Cady."
Cady stepped closer to Aphrodite, her voice low and dangerous. "Hephaestus is not infertile. He simply has a rare chance of fathering a child. And he fathered my child, something you and Ares will never be able to do."
Aphrodite's face turned red with anger. "How dare you, Cady! You're just a minor goddess of wisdom. You have no right to speak to me like that."
Cady laughed. "Oh, Aphrodite. You're so predictable. Always playing the victim, never taking responsibility for your own actions. It's truly pathetic."
Aphrodite stormed off, leaving Cady alone in the hall. Cady took a deep breath and continued on her way, a proud smile on her face. She reached Hephaestus's forge, the sound of hammering on metal getting louder as she approached. She found Hephaestus working on a new invention, his brow furrowed in concentration. His muscular arms glistened with sweat, the fire from the forge casting an orange glow on his dark beard and hair.
Cady approached him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hephaestus," she said softly.
Hephaestus looked up, his face lighting up when he saw Cady. "Cady," he said, standing up to greet her. "What brings you here?"
Cady took a deep breath. "I have something to tell you," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm pregnant."
Hephaestus's face broke into a huge smile. "Really? That's wonderful news, Cady!"
Cady smiled back, her heart swelling with love for Hephaestus. "Yes, it is. And I want you to be a part of it, Hephaestus. I want you to be the father of my child."
Hephaestus took Cady's hands in his own. "I would be honored, Cady. I will be there for you and our child, always."
Cady leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Hephaestus's lips. "I know you will, Hephaestus. I know you will."
As they embraced, Cady felt a warmth spread through her body. She was no longer just a goddess of inventions and technology. She was a woman, a mother-to-be, and she couldn't wait to see what the future held for her and Hephaestus.
