The Aphrodite cabin was alive with chatter and laughter as Selina sat in the common room, trying to focus on the conversation. But her mind was elsewhere. She got up and walked over to the mirror, running her fingers through her black hair. As she looked at her reflection, she noticed a slight curve to her stomach that wasn’t there before.
Selina’s heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight. She was pregnant. She turned around to see Charles, her boyfriend and a son of Hephaestus, sitting on a nearby couch. She walked over to him and whispered in his ear, “I need to talk to you.”
Charles followed Selina to a quiet corner of the room, his eyes filled with concern. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
Selina took a deep breath and said, “I’m pregnant.”
Charles’s eyes widened in shock, but then a smile spread across his face. He hugged Selina tightly and said, “That’s amazing. I’m going to be a father.”
Selina smiled, relieved that Charles was taking the news well. “We need to keep this to ourselves for a little while longer,” she said.
But their plan was quickly foiled when a son of Demeter noticed Selina’s baby bump. He spread the news to the rest of the camp, and soon everyone knew that Selina was pregnant.
The Aphrodite cabin mates were supportive, but some of them couldn’t help but make playful insults about Selina’s new “curves.” Selina took it all in stride, knowing that her cabin mates were just trying to lighten the mood.
Charles presented Selina with a miniature statue of a baby, which he made himself. Selina was touched and gave Charles a kiss. The rest of the day was filled with well-wishes and congratulations from the campers.
As the day turned to night, Selina and Charles retired to their cabin, where they spent the night cuddled up together, talking about their future as parents. Selina couldn’t help but feel a little nervous about what was to come, but she knew that she and Charles would face it together.
As Selina drifted off to sleep, she thought about the little life growing inside of her and smiled.
The next morning, Selina woke up to find Charles already gone. She got dressed and headed out to find him. She found him in the forge, working on a new statue. He was focused and didn’t notice her at first. Selina watched him for a moment, taking in the sight of her strong, caring boyfriend. She knew that they were going to be just fine.
“Hey,” Selina said, breaking the silence.
Charles turned around and smiled. “Hey, yourself. I was just working on a new statue. What do you think?”
Selina looked at the statue and was impressed. “It’s beautiful,” she said. “Just like its creator.”
Charles blushed and pulled Selina in for a kiss. “I’m the lucky one,” he said. “To have you by my side.”
Selina smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her body. She knew that they were going to face the challenges ahead, together. And that was all that mattered.
