The family living room was the epitome of cozy and warm, with the scent of burning firewood and the faint sound of classical music playing in the background. But the peaceful atmosphere was quickly disrupted as Solace entered the room, his curly blonde hair disheveled and his blue eyes wide with guilt.
His mother, Brigitte, with her light pink hair and dark eyes, smiled playfully at her son. "Solace, where were you?" she asked, her voice dripping with mock innocence.
Solace hesitated, then finally admitted, "I was with Nico."
Apollo, Solace's father, raised an eyebrow. "But you know we're fine with you hanging out with Nico," he said. "So what were you two doing?"
Solace looked at his parents, his guilt turning to fear. "Okay, if I tell you, you can't be mad," he said.
Brigitte and Apollo exchanged a look, then nodded in agreement.
Solace took a deep breath. "We were...exploring the Underworld," he said.
Brigitte's eyes widened. "The Underworld?" she repeated. "As in, Hades's realm?"
Solace nodded. "Yeah, we just wanted to see what it was like," he said.
Apollo rubbed his temples. "Solace, you know that's off-limits, right?" he said.
Solace looked down at his feet. "I know, I'm sorry," he said.
Brigitte sighed, then stood up from the couch. "Well, at least you're safe," she said.
Apollo nodded. "And you weren't smoking or drinking, right?" he said.
Solace shook his head. "No, of course not," he said.
Brigitte smiled. "Good," she said. "Because if I found out you were, I would have to ground you for eternity."
Solace rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I know," he said. "You're the toughest goddess in Olympus."
Brigitte laughed. "And don't you forget it," she said. "But seriously, Solace, you need to be more careful. The Underworld is a dangerous place."
Solace nodded. "I know, I'm sorry," he said. "I just wanted to see what it was like."
Apollo shook his head. "Curiosity killed the cat, Solace," he said.
Solace smirked. "Yeah, but I'm not a cat," he said.
Brigitte chuckled. "No, you're not," she said. "You're a demigod. And as a demigod, you have a responsibility to be careful and make smart decisions."
Solace sighed. "I know, I'll be more careful from now on," he said.
Brigitte smiled. "I hope so," she said. "Because if you're not, I'll have to take away your video games for a month."
Solace's eyes widened. "A month?" he repeated.
Brigitte nodded. "A month," she said. "And trust me, you don't want that."
Solace shook his head. "No, I definitely don't," he said.
Apollo stood up from the couch. "Alright, I think that's enough lecturing for one night," he said. "Go to bed, Solace. We'll talk more about this in the morning."
Solace nodded and headed towards the stairs.
Brigitte called after him. "And Solace, don't forget to brush your teeth!"
Solace rolled his eyes. "I won't, mom," he said.
As Solace disappeared upstairs, Brigitte and Apollo exchanged a look.
Apollo chuckled. "He's definitely got your spirit," he said.
Brigitte smiled. "I know," she said. "And I wouldn't have it any other way."
They both laughed as they settled back onto the couch, the warmth and coziness of the living room once again enveloping them.
