The family living room was the epitome of cozy, with the scent of burning sage and the sound of soft music playing in the background. It was a space that invited conversation and relaxation, and tonight was no different.
Solace walked into the room, his curly blonde hair disheveled, and his blue eyes wide with guilt. He saw his mother, Brigitte, and his father, Apollo, sitting on the couch, waiting for him.
Brigitte, with her light pink hair and dark eyes, greeted Solace with a playful smile. "Solace, where were you?" she asked, her voice filled with amusement.
Solace hesitated, but finally admitted that he was with Nico, the son of Hades and Persephone.
Apollo, with his golden hair and piercing green eyes, raised an eyebrow. "But you know we are fine with you hanging out with Nico," he said. "And you most definitely weren't smoking or drinking because I would have smelled that by now. So what were you both doing?"
Solace took a deep breath and said, "Okay, if I tell you, you can't be mad."
Brigitte and Apollo exchanged a glance, then nodded in agreement.
Solace fidgeted, then finally spit it out. "We were... studying."
Brigitte burst out laughing. "Studying? At this time of night?"
Solace looked at the ground, his cheeks turning red. "Yes, studying," he insisted.
Apollo leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Solace, my son, I think you're forgetting who I am. I can smell a lie from a mile away."
Solace looked up, his eyes pleading. "But we were really studying! I swear!"
Brigitte couldn't help but laugh at Solace's antics. "Fine, Solace," she said. "We believe you. But next time, be honest with us from the start."
Solace nodded, looking relieved. "I will, I promise."
Apollo stood up, stretching his arms. "Well, I'm going to bed," he said. "Don't stay up too late, Solace."
Solace nodded, then turned to Brigitte. "Can I talk to you for a minute, mom?" he asked.
Brigitte nodded, and Apollo left the room, leaving the two of them alone.
Solace took a deep breath before speaking. "Mom, I need your advice," he said.
Brigitte raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" she asked. "What's going on?"
Solace shifted nervously. "Well, it's about Nico," he said.
Brigitte smiled. "Go on," she said.
Solace hesitated, then blurted out, "I think I might be in love with him."
Brigitte's smile grew wider. "Solace, that's wonderful!" she exclaimed. "But are you sure? It's a big step."
Solace nodded. "I've never felt this way before," he said. "I can't stop thinking about him."
Brigitte put a hand on Solace's shoulder. "Then I think you should follow your heart," she said. "Just be honest with him, and yourself. And remember, I'm always here for you."
Solace hugged his mother, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, mom," he said. "I love you."
Brigitte hugged him back. "I love you too, Solace."
As Solace headed to bed, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. He was in love, and for the first time in his life, he felt truly alive.
