Chapter 1: The Unexpected Dive
Lila Matthews, a fiery 20-year-old college junior, had a knack for landing in the most absurd situations. With her sharp tongue and unapologetic attitude, she was the kind of girl who could talk her way out of anything—except, apparently, her bizarre habit of finding her face buried in women’s backsides. It wasn’t intentional, mind you, but fate had a cruel sense of humor.
It all started at a crowded frat party on a sticky Friday night. Lila, dressed in a tight black tank top and ripped jeans that hugged her athletic frame, was weaving through a sea of sweaty bodies, a red Solo cup in hand. Her best friend, Tara, a curvaceous brunette with a wicked grin, was egging her on to dance.
“Come on, Lila, shake that ass for once! You’re wound tighter than a nun’s chastity belt!” Tara teased, her hips swaying to the thumping bass.
Lila rolled her eyes, taking a swig of her lukewarm beer. “I’d rather not have every horny frat boy in here thinking I’m their next conquest. I’m here for the free booze, not to be someone’s wet dream.”
Tara laughed, grabbing Lila’s wrist and pulling her toward the dance floor. “Live a little, smartass. You’re 20, not 80. Let loose!”
Reluctantly, Lila let herself be dragged into the chaos. Bodies pressed against her, the air thick with the scent of cheap cologne and desperation. She was just starting to find her rhythm when it happened—again. Someone bumped into her from behind, hard, sending her stumbling forward. Her cup flew out of her hand, and before she could catch herself, she collided face-first into the backside of a tall blonde in a skintight miniskirt.
“Jesus Christ!” Lila yelped, her voice muffled as she pulled back, wiping her face with the back of her hand. “Who the hell wears a skirt that short and expects not to be a human airbag?”
The blonde spun around, her blue eyes flashing with a mix of amusement and irritation. “Excuse me? Maybe if you weren’t barreling through the crowd like a drunk bull, you wouldn’t be sniffing my ass!”
Lila straightened up, brushing her dark hair out of her face, her cheeks burning—not from embarrassment, but from sheer annoyance. “Sniffing? Honey, I didn’t sign up for a backstage pass to your peach. Maybe invest in some personal space next time.”
The blonde smirked, crossing her arms over her chest, which only accentuated her curves. “I’m Vanessa. And for the record, if you’re gonna crash into me, at least buy me a drink first.”
Lila raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a sly grin. “Oh, I see. You’re one of those girls who thinks a cheap beer is foreplay. Fine, Vanessa, let’s get you liquored up. But don’t expect me to dive back in for round two.”
Vanessa laughed, a throaty sound that sent an unexpected shiver down Lila’s spine. “We’ll see about that, crash queen. Lead the way.”
They pushed through the crowd to the makeshift bar, trading barbs the whole way. Lila couldn’t help but notice the way Vanessa’s hips swayed, the confidence in her stride. There was something electric between them, a tension that wasn’t just from their snarky banter. By the time they each had a fresh drink, they were tucked into a quieter corner of the house, the music a dull throb in the background.
“You’ve got a mouth on you,” Vanessa said, sipping her drink, her eyes locked on Lila’s. “I like that. Most girls here are too busy batting their lashes to say anything real.”
Lila smirked, leaning against the wall, her posture casual but her pulse quickening. “And most girls here don’t have the guts to call me out after I’ve face-planted into their ass. You’re not what I expected.”
Vanessa stepped closer, her breath warm against Lila’s ear as she whispered, “Stick around, and I’ll show you just how unexpected I can be.”
Lila’s breath hitched, her body reacting before her brain could catch up. The air between them crackled, charged with something raw and undeniable. Vanessa’s hand brushed against Lila’s hip, a deliberate tease, and Lila felt a heat pooling low in her belly. She wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol or the sheer audacity of this woman, but she was suddenly very aware of how close they were, how easy it would be to close the gap.
“Careful,” Lila warned, her voice low, a challenge in her tone. “I don’t play nice, and I don’t back down.”
Vanessa’s lips curved into a wicked smile, her fingers trailing up Lila’s arm. “Good. Neither do I.”
Their eyes locked, and in that moment, the party faded away. Lila’s heart pounded as Vanessa leaned in, her lips hovering just inches from Lila’s. The anticipation was maddening, a delicious ache that made Lila’s skin tingle. She could feel the heat radiating from Vanessa, could almost taste the promise of what was coming. And then—
