Simon was sitting on his bed, engrossed in a worn-out copy of "War and Peace," when the door to their shared bedroom creaked open. He looked up to see Theodore enter, his chubby cheeks flushed with excitement as he carried a stack of comic books in his arms.
"Simon, can you teach me how to kiss?" Theodore asked in a shy voice, his eyes darting nervously from the floor to Simon's face.
Simon blinked, taken aback by the unexpected question. He stuttered out a response, "Uh, Theodore, I'm not sure that's such a good idea."
Theodore pouted, looking disappointed. "But why not, Simon? I want to be ready when I meet my special someone."
Simon couldn't resist Theodore's puppy-dog eyes and sighed, "Fine, I'll teach you. But just remember, it's supposed to be a gentle and loving gesture, not a slobbering mess."
Theodore nodded eagerly, sitting down next to Simon on the bed. Simon leaned in, placing a hand on Theodore's cheek. He gently pressed their lips together, demonstrating a soft and tender kiss.
Theodore's eyes widened in surprise, but then he started to mirror Simon's movements. Simon's heart skipped a beat as he felt Theodore's lips move against his. It was strange, but also comforting, like they had been doing this for years.
The kiss deepened, and Simon couldn't help but notice how comfortable and natural it felt with Theodore. He had never felt this way before, not even with his past crushes. But he quickly pushed those thoughts away, reminding himself that this was just a lesson.
Theodore's hands started to wander, and Simon pulled away, reminding him, "Theodore, we can't get carried away. Alvin could come back any minute."
Theodore looked disappointed but understood. "Sorry, Simon. I got carried away."
Simon chuckled, "It's alright, Theodore. Just remember, practice makes perfect."
Theodore grinned, "Thanks, Simon. I feel so much more confident now."
Simon smiled back, "You're welcome, Theodore. Now, let's get back to our reading."
And with that, they both returned to their respective books, but Simon couldn't help but steal glances at Theodore every now and then. He couldn't deny the spark that had ignited between them, and he wondered if Theodore felt it too.
But for now, they were just two chipmunks sharing a bedroom, with a secret that only they knew. And as Simon lost himself in the pages of his book, he couldn't help but think that this was the beginning of something beautiful.
