The zoo was bustling with families and couples, but Lana paid them no mind as she strode through the entrance with a confident smirk. Her friends had tried to talk her out of it, but she knew what she wanted, and it wasn't a cuddly koala or a majestic lion.
She passed the flamingos, their pink feathers a stark contrast to her black leather jacket. Lana's eyes scanned the crowd, dismissing one man after another. "No, no, no..." she murmured, shaking her head. "Not you, not you either..."
Her gaze landed on a group of young men, who were ogling a peacock with wide eyes. Lana rolled her eyes and muttered, "Amateurs." She continued her search, her lips curling into a grin as she spotted her target.
A shy-looking boy, barely out of his teens, was playing with a claw machine, completely oblivious to the world around him. Lana approached him, leaning on the machine and crossing her arms. The boy looked up, startled, and Lana flashed him a dazzling smile.
"You look like you could use some help with that," she said, her voice dripping with amusement. The boy blushed and stuttered, "I-I'm good, thank you."
Lana chuckled and replied, "Oh, I'm sure you are. But let me show you how it's done." She took over the machine, her fingers deftly maneuvering the joystick. With a triumphant grin, she grabbed a stuffed animal and handed it to the boy.
"See, it's all about knowing when to pull the lever," she said, winking at him. The boy smiled shyly and thanked her, his eyes drawn to the dimples on her cheeks.
Lana struck up a conversation with the boy, whose name was Ethan. She teased him playfully, saying, "You're not one of those guys who spends all their time playing video games, are you?"
Ethan laughed and admitted he enjoyed arcade games. Lana rolled her eyes and said, "Well, at least you have a hobby. Unlike some people I know."
They continued talking, and Lana learned Ethan was a college student studying computer science. She raised an eyebrow and said, "A nerd, huh? I think I can work with that."
Ethan blushed again, and Lana thought, "This one is going to be fun." She invited him to join her at the arcade, and after a moment of hesitation, Ethan agreed.
Lana grinned, thinking, "This is going to be an interesting day."
As they walked towards the arcade, Lana couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. She had never been one to follow the crowd, and her unconventional hunt had already proven to be more entertaining than she could have imagined.
With Ethan by her side, Lana knew the day was only going to get better. She was in control, and she was ready to play.
