Commanding Desire

Commanding Desire

Chapter 1: The First Order

The late afternoon sun spilled through the wide windows of Evelyn Hart’s upscale loft, casting golden streaks across the polished hardwood floor. At forty-two, Evelyn was a force of nature—sharp-tongued, confident, and unapologetically in control. Her tailored blazer hugged her curves as she leaned against the kitchen counter, a glass of red wine in hand, her piercing green eyes fixed on the nervous young man standing before her.

Jake, barely twenty-one, shifted on his feet, his cheeks flushed under her unrelenting gaze. He’d been hired as her personal assistant just a week ago, but the tension between them had been simmering from the moment he’d stumbled over his introduction. Now, as he clutched a stack of files she’d asked for, he looked like a deer caught in headlights.

“Jake,” Evelyn purred, her voice low and commanding, “do you always fumble like this, or am I just lucky to get the full show?”

He swallowed hard, a nervous laugh escaping. “I-I’m sorry, Ms. Hart. I just… I didn’t expect you to be so—”

“Intimidating?” she cut in, a smirk curling her lips as she set the wine glass down with a deliberate clink. “Good. I like keeping people on their toes. Now, put those files on the table and stop looking like you’re about to bolt. I don’t bite… unless asked.”

Jake’s eyes widened, but he obeyed, placing the files down with shaky hands. Evelyn stepped closer, her heels clicking with purpose, the scent of her jasmine perfume wrapping around him like a trap. She tilted her head, studying him like a predator sizing up prey.

“You’re too tense, darling,” she said, her tone dripping with mock concern. “What’s the matter? Never had a woman tell you what to do before?”

He opened his mouth to protest, but the words caught in his throat as she reached out, her fingers brushing the collar of his shirt. “I… I’m just trying to do a good job,” he stammered.

“Oh, you will,” she replied, her voice a velvet threat. “But not with paperwork. I have other tasks in mind for you.” Her hand slid down his chest, lingering just long enough to feel his heartbeat race. “Tell me, Jake, are you good at following orders?”

His breath hitched, and a visible flush crept up his neck. “I… I can be,” he managed, his voice barely above a whisper.

Evelyn’s smile was wicked. “Perfect. Then let’s start with something simple. Take off that shirt. I want to see if you’re as promising as I think you are.”

Jake hesitated, his fingers hovering at the buttons, but the fire in her eyes left no room for argument. As he fumbled with the fabric, Evelyn stepped back, crossing her arms, her gaze never wavering. “Faster,” she snapped, her tone sharp as a whip. “I don’t have all day to watch you play shy.”

The shirt fell to the floor, revealing his lean, taut frame. Evelyn’s lips parted slightly, a flicker of approval crossing her face. She closed the distance again, her hand trailing down his bare shoulder, her touch electric. “Not bad,” she murmured. “But I’m going to need more than a pretty view to be impressed.”

Before he could respond, she gripped his chin, tilting his face to meet her gaze. “On your knees, Jake,” she ordered, her voice a sultry command. “Let’s see if you can handle what I have in store.”

His knees hit the floor, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps as she towered over him, her presence overwhelming. Evelyn’s fingers tangled in his hair, pulling just enough to make him gasp. “Good boy,” she whispered, her other hand sliding down her own blazer, teasing at the buttons. “Now, let’s see how well you take direction when things get… harder.”

The air between them crackled with heat, her words igniting a fire in Jake’s core as he stared up at her, helpless under her control. Evelyn’s smirk widened, knowing full well the storm of desire she was about to unleash.
