Containment of Desire

Containment of Desire

Chapter 1: Microscopic Heat

The sterile hum of the SCP Foundation laboratory was my sanctuary, a place where I, Felix, could bury my emotions under layers of cold, hard data. Five years in this clandestine world of anomalies, and I’d mastered the art of restraint—until Dr. Bright walked in. My heart, traitorously, thudded louder than the centrifuge in the corner. I hunched over the microscope, pretending to study a sample of SCP-008 residue, but my focus was shot the moment I heard his polished shoes click against the tiled floor.

'Felix, still playing the stoic scientist, I see,' Bright’s voice dripped with that infuriating, teasing lilt. I could feel the heat creeping up my neck, my pale skin betraying me with a flush. I didn’t look up. Couldn’t. Not when I knew those sharp, mischievous eyes would be waiting to unravel me.

'Just doing my job, Doctor,' I muttered, my voice catching on the last syllable. Damn it. Why did he always have this effect on me? I adjusted the focus knob unnecessarily, anything to avoid meeting his gaze.

Then I felt it—his presence, too close. His chest pressed against my back, a deliberate, warm weight that sent a jolt straight through me. His hands slid over mine on the microscope, fingers brushing with a precision that made my breath hitch. His chin rested on my shoulder, his breath hot against my ear as he whispered, 'You’re trembling, Felix. Is it the sample… or me?'

I wanted to pull away, to snap something cold and cutting, but my body betrayed me again. My spine stiffened, and before I could move, his other hand found my waist, pulling me back against him with a firm, possessive grip. 'Don’t play coy,' he murmured, his voice a low growl now, all mockery gone. 'I’ve seen the way you look at me. Stuttering, blushing—like a schoolboy with a crush. It’s adorable.'

'Adorable?' I shot back, finally finding my voice, though it wavered. I turned my head just enough to glare at him, our faces inches apart. 'I’m not some anomaly for you to toy with, Bright.'

His smirk widened, eyes glinting with something dangerous, something hungry. 'Oh, but you are an anomaly, Felix. A tightly wound, repressed little puzzle I can’t wait to crack open.' His hand on my waist tightened, fingers digging into my hip with a promise of more. 'Tell me, do you think about me when you’re alone in this lab? Do you imagine what I’d do to you if I stopped holding back?'

My throat went dry, words failing me as heat pooled low in my gut. I hated how easily he could disarm me, how his words cut through my defenses like a scalpel. 'You’re insufferable,' I managed, but it came out more like a plea than an insult.

Bright chuckled, a dark, seductive sound that vibrated against my back. 'And yet, you’re not pushing me away.' His lips brushed the shell of my ear, sending a shiver down my spine. 'I could take you right here, over this desk, and you’d let me, wouldn’t you?'

The air between us crackled, charged with a tension I’d fought for months to ignore. My hands gripped the edge of the lab table, knuckles white, as I felt the hard line of him pressed against me. I was losing this battle, and he knew it. The lab, the Foundation, the anomalies—all of it faded as my world narrowed to the heat of his body, the challenge in his voice, and the undeniable pull drawing me closer to the edge of something explosive.
