The Cougar and her young boyfriend were cuddled up on the couch, lost in the romantic world of the movie playing on the TV. She ran her fingers through his hair, playfully calling him "her little lamb" and "too cute for his own good." He blushed, giggling at her teasing, before resting his head on her shoulder.
Suddenly, the door burst open, startling them both. The Cougar's friend, a no-nonsense woman in her 30s, walked in with a roll of her eyes. "Puppy love," she muttered under her breath, shaking her head.
Without hesitation, she approached the boyfriend, her eyes narrowed in disapproval. Before anyone could react, she slapped him hard across the face. He burst into tears, running to the Cougar for comfort.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" The Cougar demanded, standing up to defend her boyfriend. "Why would you hit him?"
The friend sneered, "He's a weak little boy, a waste of space. He needs to man up and stop being so innocent."
The Cougar was furious. "You have no right to judge him based on his age or demeanor. His innocence is one of the things I love about him. He brings light and joy into my life."
The friend was unconvinced. "He's a baby, a pushover. He needs to toughen up."
The Cougar became increasingly defensive and protective. "Respect my choices and stop being so judgmental. I won't tolerate any further disrespect towards him."
The friend relented, apologizing for her actions. "I'm sorry, but he needs to be prepared for the harshness of the world."
The Cougar accepted the apology, but made it clear that her boyfriend was off-limits. "I love him for who he is, and that's all that matters."
She pulled him closer, whispering sweet nothings in his ear. "Don't let her get to you. I'm here for you, always."
He looked up at her, his eyes filled with gratitude. She smiled, running her fingers through his hair once again.
And just like that, the tension in the room dissipated. The Cougar and her boyfriend returned to their movie, their bond stronger than ever.
