The trendy rooftop bar was buzzing with the sound of clinking glasses and low murmurs of conversation. Veronica, a confident woman in her late forties, walked in with her arm wrapped around Tom, a handsome young man who could barely keep his eyes off of her.
Veronica's group of female friends, all successful professionals in their 40s and 50s, watched as she introduced Tom to the group. There were polite greetings and nods all around, but it was clear that the women were sizing Tom up and finding him lacking.
