Felicity perched on the barstool, her eyes scanning the trendy rooftop bar. She sipped on her martini, the cool liquid sliding down her throat. The crowd was a sea of young, cute guys, but she felt underwhelmed. At 45, she was used to turning heads, but tonight, she was just another woman in a room full of men.
A group of young men approached the bar, ordering drinks and laughing loudly. Felicity rolled her eyes at their antics but couldn’t help but notice one of them - a cute, scruffy-faced guy with a mischievous grin. He caught her eye and grinned, raising his glass in her direction. Felicity raised an eyebrow and turned away, but she couldn’t deny the spark of interest that flickered inside her.
She decided to take the bull by the horns and struck up a conversation with him. “Well, well, well, what do we have here? A little boy playing dress-up in his daddy’s clothes?” she said, eyeing his outfit.
The young man, Charlie, took it in stride, flirting back with ease. “And here I was thinking I was the epitome of cool. But if it takes a cougar like you to notice me, then I must be doing something right.”
Felicity was surprised by how much she enjoyed talking to Charlie. He was smart, funny, and not intimidated by her strong personality. She started to feel a spark of attraction. She’d always been drawn to younger men, but she’d never met one who was so confident and self-assured.
Charlie, for his part, was clearly enjoying himself. He loved the way Felicity challenged him and the way she took charge. “You know, I’ve always had a thing for older women. They’re so confident and in control. It’s a real turn-on.”
Felicity felt a blush creep up her cheeks. She worried that Charlie wouldn’t be interested in her once he found out how much older she was. But Charlie surprised her by asking her out on a date. Felicity was taken aback - she wasn’t expecting him to be so bold.
She hesitated for a moment, then agreed. She was intrigued by Charlie and wanted to see where things went. As they left the bar, Charlie playfully insulted Felicity, calling her an “old cat” who’d finally found a “kitten” to play with. Felicity laughed and playfully swatted at him, feeling more alive and excited than she had in years.
The chapter ended with Felicity walking away from the bar, feeling a sense of anticipation and excitement for what’s to come. She knew that dating Charlie wouldn’t be easy - there would be challenges and obstacles to overcome. But she was ready for whatever comes her way. She was a cougar, after all, and she wasn’t afraid to take on anything that comes her way.
