Ella stood in front of the Pearly Gates, her hands grasping the cold, unyielding bars. She couldn't believe it. Even in death, she couldn't catch a break. She muttered under her breath, "Great, just my luck."
Suddenly, she felt a bump from behind, and she stumbled forward, her box braids swinging wildly. She turned around, ready to give whoever it was a piece of her mind, when she saw Raymond.
Raymond, a 17-year-old Asian boy with black hair, who died in 1938 from a fire. He was the ghost she used to visit in the old theater, the one she would sneak away from her friends to talk to.
Ella couldn't help but smirk. "Well, if it isn't the ghost I used to visit in the old theater. Fancy running into you here."
Raymond rolled his eyes, a familiar expression that Ella remembered well. "Ella, you always did have a knack for finding trouble. Even in the afterlife."
They both tried to open the gates together, but they still wouldn't budge. Ella suggested, "Maybe we need to prove we're worthy of entering heaven. You know, like a test or something."
Raymond raised an eyebrow. "You think heaven has an entrance exam? I thought it was supposed to be a place of peace and love."
Ella retorted, "Well, I'm not exactly feeling peaceful or loving right now. I want to get inside and see what this heaven place is all about."
They decided to explore the afterlife together and set off to find the entrance exam. As they walked, they came across a group of angels playing harps. Ella couldn't help but make a face.
Raymond chuckled. "Not a fan of the music, huh?"
Ella replied, "It's a little too... heavenly for my taste. I prefer something with a little more soul."
They continued their journey, determined to find the entrance exam and prove they belonged in heaven. Ella couldn't help but feel a little thrill at the thought of taking a test in the afterlife. It was just like her, always looking for a challenge, even in the most unexpected places.
As they walked, Raymond and Ella exchanged sharp and witty banter, their voices echoing through the vast expanse of the afterlife. Ella couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort in Raymond's presence, even in this strange and unfamiliar place.
They may have been two lost souls, but together, they were determined to find their way into heaven and prove they were worthy of entering the Pearly Gates. And if they had to take a test to do it, then so be it. Bring on the entrance exam, Ella thought. She was ready.
