The Ryomen siblings, Kagero and Koji, were as different as night and day. Kagero, with his mother's piercing eyes and mischievous grin, was a striking young man who spent his days engrossed in his writing. Koji, on the other hand, was the more serious and responsible of the two. He was the one who was expected to inherit the throne of curses, and he took his responsibilities very seriously.
On this particular day, Koji couldn't help but glance over at Kagero's work, a wicked grin playing on his lips. "Koji, your writing is as dry as a desert," Kagero said, not looking up from his parchment. "No wonder you can't get any readers!"
Koji's eyebrow quirked up in amusement and annoyance. "At least I don't need to rely on shock value to sell my stories, Kagero."
Kagero laughed, a wicked glint in his eye. "Oh, Koji, you're just jealous that I'm the one who's going to inherit the throne of curses!"
Koji scoffed, "You wish, little brother. You're not even close to being ready for that kind of responsibility."
Kagero's eyes flashed with determination. "Watch me, Koji. I'll show you that I'm just as capable as you are."
Their banter escalated, turning into a full-blown argument. Their voices echoed through the lavish temple, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant tapestries, where they had grown up.
In a fit of anger, Koji lunged at Kagero, pinning him down on the floor. Kagero, not one to back down, used his wit and cunning to render Koji senseless, leaving him sprawled on the floor.
Kagero smirked, "Looks like you're the one who needs to learn a lesson, Koji."
Koji groaned, trying to push himself up, but his limbs wouldn't obey. Kagero leaned down, his lips curling into a wicked smile. "Maybe I should teach you a thing or two about writing... and other things."
Koji's eyes widened, realizing the double entendre in Kagero's words. He couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in his stomach. He had always known that Kagero was different, that there was a spark in him that he didn't possess.
Kagero's hand reached out to brush a strand of hair off of Koji's face, a promise of things to come. "Just think, Koji. With my writing skills and your responsibility, we could be unstoppable."
Koji couldn't help but smile at the thought. Maybe Kagero was right. Maybe he was ready to inherit the throne of curses. But not before he learned a thing or two from his little brother.
The chapter ends with the promise of a new beginning for the Ryomen siblings, a senseless twist to their sibling spat that would change their lives forever.
