"And then, I tell you, I couldn't believe my eyes," Aniya said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Hera, the queen of the gods, caught in a compromising position with a mere mortal."
Hera, who sat to Aniya's left, stiffened at the mention of her name. Her face was expressionless, but her eyes narrowed as she listened to Aniya's story.
"Excuse me, Aniya," Hera cut in, her voice sharp. "But I must interrupt. I find your story...troubling."
Zeus, the king of the gods, raised an eyebrow at Hera's outburst. "Continue, Aniya. I would like to hear the rest."
Aniya took a deep breath and continued. "As I was saying, I left the feast to freshen up. Thirty minutes later, I couldn't find Hera anywhere. So I went searching."
She paused for dramatic effect. "And that's when I found Hera...in a rather...intimate situation with a mortal."
The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to Hera. Her face turned red, but she said nothing.
Aniya continued. "I dragged Hera out of the room and took her home. And eight weeks later, Hera discovered she was pregnant."
She looked around the room, her eyes challenging. "But Hera lied to Zeus and said the child was his. And that, my friends, is how Hephaestus came to be."
A murmur rippled through the room, and Hephaestus, the god of fire and the illegitimate son of Hera and Zeus, sat quietly, his tan skin and dark brown hair unnoticed by most.
"But Hephaestus is Mexican," Aniya said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Surely that should have given it away."
The room erupted in laughter, and even Hera couldn't help but crack a smile.
"Aniya, you always know how to liven up a feast," Zeus said, his voice booming. "But I must say, I am surprised by your revelation."
Aniya shrugged. "I call it like I see it, Zeus. And the truth has a way of revealing itself, eventually."
The feast continued, the gods and goddesses laughing and drinking, but Aniya's words lingered in the air. And as the night wore on, the truth became harder and harder to ignore.
Hera excused herself from the table, her face still flushed. She walked through the grand hall, her mind racing. She couldn't believe that Aniya had revealed her secret to the entire room.
She found herself in a quiet corner of the hall, away from the prying eyes of the other gods and goddesses. She leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"Hera, are you alright?"
Hera turned to see Aphrodite, the goddess of love, standing in front of her.
"No, I am not alright," Hera said, her voice tight. "Aniya has revealed my secret to the entire room."
Aphrodite's eyes widened. "Oh, Hera. I had no idea."
Hera sighed. "No one did. And now, everyone knows the truth."
Aphrodite took Hera's hand. "But sometimes, the truth can set you free."
Hera looked at Aphrodite, her eyes filled with uncertainty. "Do you really think so?"
Aphrodite nodded. "I do. And who knows, maybe this feast of sins will lead to a new beginning for all of us."
Hera smiled, her first genuine smile of the night. "Maybe you're right, Aphrodite. Maybe this feast of sins will lead to something beautiful after all."
