The door to Eldee’s luxurious mansion swung open, and he stepped inside, his suitcase rolling behind him. He had just returned from a long business trip, and he was looking forward to some well-deserved rest and relaxation. But as he glanced around the foyer, he was surprised to find his 7-year-old daughter, Lily, waiting for him.
“Looks like you’ve gained a few wrinkles, dad!” Lily called out, her voice laced with playful insult.
Eldee laughed and ruffled her hair as he set down his suitcase. “Well, hello to you too, Lily. It’s good to see you.”
Lily grinned up at him, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “I’ve been practicing my piano skills. Come listen.”
Eldee followed his daughter into the living room, taking in the sight of her as they walked. Lily had grown taller and more mature since he last saw her, and he was struck by how quickly she was growing up.
Lily took a seat at the grand piano and began to play a playful tune, her fingers dancing over the keys with ease. Eldee smiled as he listened, his heart swelling with pride.
“That’s very good, Lily,” he said, when she finished.
Lily rolled her eyes. “Don’t sound so surprised, dad. I’m not a little kid anymore.”
Eldee chuckled. “You’re right, you’re not. You’re becoming quite the young lady.”
Lily beamed at the compliment, before challenging her father to a game of chess. As they sat down to play, Eldee was struck by how intelligent and confident Lily had become. She teased him, “You’re getting slow, dad. I might just beat you this time.”
Eldee feigned shock and disappointment, but secretly enjoyed the friendly competition. They ordered dinner from Lily’s favorite restaurant, and as they ate, Lily brought up a school project she was working on, asking for her father’s help.
Eldee was impressed by Lily’s passion for learning and offered to help her in any way he could. Lily smiled and thanked her father, before playfully insulting him again, “You’re not as bad as I thought, dad.”
Eldee laughed and hugged his daughter, grateful for the special bond they shared. As the night came to a close, Eldee realized that his little girl was growing up fast, and he was excited to see what the future held for them both.
