The Hall of Olympian Gods was buzzing with activity, the air thick with the scent of divine ambrosia and the sound of heated discussion. At the center of it all sat Hephaestus, the god of fire and the forge, his hammer resting idly in his lap as he listened to the chatter with half-closed eyes.
"Can you believe it?" Aphrodite, the goddess of love, was saying, her voice dripping with disbelief. "Ivory still hasn't left Hephaestus' side. She's such a daddy's girl!"
Hephaestus waved a hand dismissively, calling the gods around him "jealous gossips." But even as he spoke, he could feel a twinge of pride in his heart. Yes, his daughter was close to him, but what was so wrong with that?
Apollo, the god of the sun, chimed in, his golden curls shining in the light. "It's not gossip if it's true, my dear Hephaestus."
Hephaestus' eyes snapped open, and he fixed Apollo with a steely gaze. "And you would know all about truth, wouldn't you, Mr. 'I-can-see-the-future-but-can't-predict-my-own-downfall'?"
The room erupted in laughter, and Hephaestus couldn't help but smile at his own wit. But even as he laughed, he knew that there was some truth to what the gods were saying. Ivory needed to learn to stand on her own two feet.
Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, spoke up, her voice cutting through the noise. "It's not a bad thing to be close to your father, Ivory. But you might want to try expanding your horizons a little."
Ivory, who had been quietly listening to the conversation, rolled her eyes and spoke up, her voice strong and confident. "Thanks for the advice, Artemis. But I think I'll stick with my daddy for now."
Hephaestus beamed with pride as he heard his daughter's words, but he knew that she needed to learn to stand on her own. He decided to take action and set up a plan to help Ivory become more independent.
He called for a meeting with Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and explained his situation. Athena listened intently, her bright eyes shining with understanding.
"I suggest that you give Ivory a task that she can't accomplish on her own," Athena said, her voice wise and calm. "That way, she'll be forced to seek help from others."
Hephaestus agreed, and they came up with a plan to build a golden throne for Zeus. Hephaestus knew that the task was too difficult for Ivory to handle alone, and he hoped that this would help her become more independent.
The chapter ends with Hephaestus and Ivory starting to work on the throne, and Ivory looking at her father with a determined expression. The journey to independence was just beginning, but Hephaestus knew that his daughter was up for the challenge.
