Chapter 1: The Unwelcome Debt Collector
The air in Marat’s modest living room was thick with tension, the kind that clings to your skin and makes every breath feel like a gamble. Marat sat on the worn-out couch, his hands clasped tight, knuckles white, while his wife, Alina, stood by the window, her sharp green eyes scanning the street outside. Their daughter was upstairs, oblivious to the storm brewing below. The knock at the door came like a gunshot in the silence.
Marat’s stomach dropped. He knew who it was before the door even creaked open. Dima, all six-foot-four of him, filled the frame, his leather jacket stretched tight over his broad shoulders. Behind him, eight shadows loomed—his crew, each one looking like they’d just as soon break a jaw as shake a hand.
“Well, Marat,” Dima drawled, stepping inside without an invitation, his boots thudding on the hardwood. “Time’s up. Where’s my money?”
Marat’s voice cracked as he stood, trying to muster some semblance of control. “Dima, I—I don’t have it yet. I just need a little more time.”
Dima’s laugh was a low, dangerous rumble. He glanced around the room, his gaze landing on Alina, who hadn’t moved from her spot by the window. Her posture was rigid, but her eyes burned with defiance. She wasn’t some shrinking violet; she was a woman who’d fought tooth and nail for everything she had.
“Time, huh?” Dima said, his smirk curling like smoke. “I’ve given you plenty of that, friend. Now, I’m thinking of other ways to settle this debt.” His eyes lingered on Alina, stripping her with a look that made Marat’s blood boil.
Alina crossed her arms, stepping forward, her voice cutting like a blade. “Keep your filthy eyes to yourself, Dima. You’re not getting a damn thing from me.”
Dima raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Oh, sweetheart, you’ve got fire. I like that. Makes this all the more... interesting.” He turned to Marat, his tone darkening. “Here’s the deal. Since you’ve got no cash, I’ll take payment another way. Your wife, right here, right now. You can watch, Marat. Consider it a lesson in responsibility.”
Marat lunged forward, but two of Dima’s men grabbed him, pinning him back against the couch. “You bastard! Don’t you dare touch her!” he roared, his face red with rage.
Alina’s jaw tightened, but she didn’t flinch. She stepped closer to Dima, her voice low and venomous. “You think you can just take what you want? I’m not some pawn in your sick game. Lay a finger on me, and I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Dima chuckled, unfazed, closing the distance between them. His hand reached out, brushing a strand of dark hair from her face, but she slapped it away with a force that echoed through the room. “Feisty,” he murmured, his voice dripping with lust. “I bet you’re just as wild when you’re pinned down, aren’t you?”
Her eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing in them. “Try me, asshole. I’ll claw your damn eyes out before you get anywhere near me.”
But Dima’s grin only widened. He nodded to his men, who tightened their grip on Marat, forcing him to stay put. The room seemed to shrink, the air growing hotter, heavier. Alina’s chest rose and fell with quick, angry breaths, her body tense but unyielding. Dima’s hand moved again, slower this time, trailing down her arm as he leaned in, his breath hot against her ear. “Let’s see how long that fight lasts when I’ve got you begging for more.”
Her slap came fast, a sharp crack across his face, but it only seemed to fuel him. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer, his other hand sliding to her waist. The struggle was electric, her strength matching his, her fury a palpable force. Marat’s shouts faded into the background as the room pulsed with raw, dangerous energy. Dima’s lips hovered near hers, his voice a husky whisper. “You’re gonna feel every inch of me, Alina. And you’re gonna love it.”
Her eyes locked with his, a storm of defiance and something else—something primal—flickering there. The tension snapped like a taut wire, and as his grip tightened, her body pressed against his, the heat between them igniting a fire that threatened to consume everything in its path.
