Jane and her friends were strolling through the city zoo, the smell of animal feed and fresh greenery filling the air. Jane, a striking woman in her late thirties, was engaged in a lively conversation with her friends about her ideal partner.
"He has to be youthful, petite, and adorable," Jane declared, her eyes sparkling with determination.
Her friends scoffed and rolled their eyes. "You're dreaming, Jane. No one like that exists."
Jane couldn't help but feel a little offended. "I'll have you know, I have high standards. I know what I want."
As they continued walking, they came across a young boy, no older than sixteen, admiring the animals at the zoo. Jane felt an instant attraction to him. He was petite, with a mop of curly brown hair and bright blue eyes. Jane couldn't resist the urge to approach him.
"Hi there," Jane said, flashing a friendly smile. "I couldn't help but notice you admiring the animals. What's your favorite?"
Ethan blushed and stammered, caught off guard by Jane's sudden approach. "Uh, I like the monkeys. They're so playful and mischievous."
Jane chuckled. "I can see why. Would you like to meet my friends?"
Ethan's face lit up, and he eagerly agreed. Jane introduced him to her friends, but they were not as welcoming as she hoped. They started harassing and bullying him because of his age.
"What's a kid like you doing here?" one of Jane's friends sneered.
Jane couldn't believe how rude they were being. She instinctively stepped in to defend Ethan's innocence.
"Back off, guys. Ethan is a guest, and he deserves respect. He's a lot more mature than you give him credit for."
Ethan was grateful for Jane's support, and they continued to make small talk. Jane's friends started to warm up to Ethan, but they still made playful insults about his age.
"Hey, kid, do you need help crossing the street?" one of Jane's friends joked.
Ethan laughed it off and playfully retorted, "Only if you promise not to drive me there."
Jane and Ethan exchanged numbers, and Jane invited him to hang out again. Ethan agreed, and they parted ways. Jane's friends were surprised by her interest in Ethan, but Jane brushed off their comments.
"Age is just a number, guys. Ethan is a great person, and that's all that matters."
As Jane and her friends left the zoo, Jane couldn't stop thinking about Ethan. She couldn't believe how attracted she was to him, despite their age difference.
"Jane, what's going on with you and that kid?" one of her friends asked, teasingly.
Jane smiled. "I like him, okay? He's fun, and he has a great sense of humor. I'm not afraid to go after what I want."
Jane went home feeling excited about the possibility of a new romance. She couldn't wait to see Ethan again and show her friends that age was just a number. She started planning their next meeting, making sure to include activities that would showcase Ethan's youthful spirit and playful personality.
Jane couldn't help but feel a bit nervous about introducing Ethan to her friends again. She hoped they would be more welcoming this time around. But no matter what happened, Jane was determined to follow her heart and pursue what made her happy.
As Jane went to bed, she felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She knew that something special was about to happen, and she couldn't wait to see where it took her.
