"Well, this is just great," she muttered to herself, grabbing a pregnancy test from the cabinet. She had to admit, the thought of being pregnant had crossed her mind a time or two, but she had always dismissed it as wishful thinking. After all, she was a goddess of inventions and technology - she didn't have time for babies.
But as she watched the test come back positive, she couldn't help but feel a sense of shock and awe. She stared at the result in disbelief, her green eyes wide with surprise.
"Well, I didn't see that coming," she said to herself, letting out a nervous laugh. She took a deep breath and exited the bathroom, clutching the test in her hand.
She found Hephaestus, her husband, working on one of his latest inventions. He looked up as she entered, noticing the serious expression on her face.
"Hey, love," she began, trying to sound casual. "I have some news for you."
Hephaestus set down his tools and gave her his full attention. "What's wrong?" he asked, concern etched on his tan skin.
Cady hesitated for a moment before showing him the pregnancy test. "I'm pregnant," she said simply.
Hephaestus's face lit up with joy and surprise. "Really? That's amazing news, Cady!"
Cady couldn't help but smile at his reaction. "Yeah, I know. I still can't believe it myself."
Hephaestus pulled Cady into a tight embrace, whispering, "I can't wait to be a father."
Cady laughed, "Well, you better get used to the idea quickly. I just had an ultrasound and it turns out there are two babies in there."
Hephaestus pulled back, looking at Cady in shock. "Twins? Are you serious?"
Cady nodded, still grinning. "Yup, twins. I guess our family is going to be even bigger than we thought."
Hephaestus shook his head in disbelief before pulling Cady back into his arms. "I can't wait to meet them," he murmured, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Cady leaned into his embrace, feeling a sense of peace and happiness wash over her. She may not have planned for this, but she couldn't wait to see what the future held for her and her growing family.
"I love you, Hephaestus," she whispered.
"I love you too, Cady," he replied, holding her even closer. "And I can't wait to start this new chapter of our lives together."
