Akutagawa's car rumbled down the road, the headlights cutting through the darkness as he and Atsushi made their way to their mission. Atsushi was quiet, staring out the window with a distant look in their eyes. Akutagawa noticed and glanced over, his brow furrowing in concern.
"Is everything alright, Atsushi?" he asked, keeping his voice level.
Atsushi hesitated, their breathing heavy and uneven. "I-I think so," they stammered, their cheeks flushing. "It's just... it's getting hot in here."
Akutagawa's eyes widened in surprise. "Hot? Like, physically hot?"
Atsushi nodded, looking embarrassed. "Yeah. It's a new symptom of my ability. I can't control it."
Akutagawa's mind raced as he tried to think of a solution. "We should pull over," he said decisively, pulling the car over to the side of the road.
Atsushi looked relieved as Akutagawa helped them to the backseat of the car. They lay down, their breathing still heavy as Akutagawa climbed into the backseat next to them.
"I'm not sure what to do," Atsushi said, their voice small and uncertain.
Akutagawa reached out, gently placing a hand on Atsushi's forehead. "Just try to stay calm," he said, his voice soothing. "I'll do what I can to help."
Atsushi nodded, closing their eyes as Akutagawa tried to think of a way to help them. He made a few jokes, trying to lighten the mood, and was relieved when he heard Atsushi chuckle.
"You're such a dork," Atsushi said, a small smile on their lips.
Akutagawa grinned, glad to see Atsushi starting to relax. He continued to make jokes, and Atsushi's laughter grew louder.
"Okay, okay," Atsushi said, holding up a hand to stop him. "I'm starting to feel a little better."
Akutagawa nodded, satisfied. He checked in with Atsushi, making sure they were okay, before continuing to help them through the heat.
As Atsushi started to relax, Akutagawa felt a sense of relief. He was glad he could help Atsushi, and he was proud of them for staying calm throughout the ordeal.
Atsushi looked up at him, a playful glint in their eyes. "You're not so bad, Akutagawa," they said, a small smile on their lips.
Akutagawa couldn't help but smile back. "And you're not so bad yourself, Atsushi," he said, his voice warm.
Atsushi and Akutagawa continued to joke around, the tension from earlier dissipating. Atsushi started to feel more like themselves, and they thanked Akutagawa for his help.
Akutagawa smiled, happy to have been able to assist. He started the car back up, and they continued on their mission.
