The lab was dimly lit, the only source of light coming from the sparse emergency lighting that flickered overhead. It was an abandoned research facility on an uncharted planet, and it was the perfect place for a recon mission. At least, that's what Alice and Bella thought as they sneaked in, their boots making soft thuds against the metal floor.
"I can't believe you talked me into this, Alice," Bella said, her voice low as she glanced around the lab. "This place gives me the creeps."
Alice snorted. "Please, Bella. You're just scared because you know I'm the better fighter."
Bella rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right. Keep telling yourself that, Alice."
They exchanged playful insults as they moved deeper into the lab, their weapons at the ready. But their banter was cut short when they were suddenly ambushed by a group of hostile aliens. Alice and Bella quickly disposed of most of them, but one managed to wound Alice before being killed.
"Alice!" Bella cried out as Alice grimaced in pain. "Who sent these things after us?"
A mysterious voice responded over the lab's intercom, taunting them and revealing that he had infected Alice with the Flood, a parasitic alien race.
Bella's heart sank as she watched the parasites begin to take over Alice's body. Alice, determined not to let the Flood control her, pulled out a knife and plunged it into her own heart, killing herself before the parasites could fully consume her.
Bella was horrified, but she was also angry. She grabbed one of the alien's weapons and charged towards the source of the voice. She was met with a hail of gunfire, but she fought on, fueled by her anger and sadness.
As she reached the control room, she found the mysterious figure, who was revealed to be a perverted alien scientist. He attempted to infect Bella with the Flood, but she fought him off and turned the tables, using the alien's own weapons to infect him instead.
As the scientist writhed in agony, Bella took a moment to catch her breath. She looked at Alice's lifeless body and vowed to avenge her death.
Bella made her way back to the entrance of the lab, where she was met by a group of Spartan reinforcements. She told them what happened and they promised to help her take down the Flood and the scientist's research.
As they left the lab, Bella looked back one last time at Alice's body. She silently promised to make the Flood and the scientist pay for what they've done.
The chapter ends with Bella leading the charge, determined to fulfill her promise and take down the Flood once and for all. Bella is seen cleaning and maintaining her weapons, her mind focused on the mission ahead.
She is approached by one of the Spartans, who tries to comfort her and offer words of encouragement. Bella brushes him off, telling him she doesn't need his pity.
As they continue to plan, Bella comes up with a daring plan to infiltrate the Flood's main base and destroy it from the inside. The other Spartans are skeptical, but Bella is insistent. She knows it's the only way to truly avenge Alice and stop the Flood.
The chapter ends with Bella leading the charge, her eyes blazing with determination. She will not rest until the Flood and the perverted scientist are nothing but a memory.
