The neon sign of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza flickered in the night, casting an eerie glow on the empty parking lot. Michael Afton, a young and naive 18-year-old, hesitantly approached the entrance, his heart pounding in his chest. He was about to start his first shift as a night guard, a job he had taken on a whim, but now regretted as every horror story he had ever heard about the place came rushing back to him.
As he opened the door, a blast of cold air hit him, making him shiver. He looked around, half expecting to see a animatronic lurking in the shadows, but the place seemed deserted. At least, until he heard a loud voice calling out from the back.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in. A newbie."
Michael turned to see Natalie Clarke, an 18-year-old veteran night guard, standing in the doorway of the security room, a smirk on her face. She was dressed in the standard uniform, a purple polo shirt and a pair of black slacks, but somehow, she made it look cool.
Michael felt a little intimidated by her, but he tried to hide it as he walked over to her. "Uh, hi. I'm Michael. I'm starting my first shift tonight."
Natalie raised an eyebrow, "Oh, I see. Well, don't worry, I'll show you the ropes. It's easy, just make sure nothing goes bump in the night."
Michael nodded, feeling a little more at ease. "Right, got it. And have you ever seen anything strange during your shifts?"
Natalie chuckled, "Let's just say I've seen things that would make your hair stand on end."
Michael's heart skipped a beat, but Natalie seemed unfazed. She walked over to the security camera monitor and pointed at the different screens. "This is where you'll be spending most of your time. You need to keep an eye on all the cameras and make sure nothing out of the ordinary happens."
She then pointed to a door in the corner of the room. "And that's the emergency exit. If anything goes wrong, that's your way out."
As she spoke, Michael couldn't help but notice how Natalie seemed to be enjoying his discomfort. He wondered if she was messing with him, but then she turned to him with a serious expression.
"By the way, if Freddy or any of the other animatronics come near you, just stay still. They're attracted to movement."
Michael's eyes widened in terror. "You're joking, right?"
Natalie shook her head, "Nope, dead serious. They're not exactly the most friendly of robots."
As the night went on, Michael became more and more paranoid, constantly checking the cameras and jumping at every sound. Natalie, amused by his fear, decided to liven things up by telling him ghost stories about the animatronics.
"So, you know how Freddy's voice sounds a little off? Well, that's because his original voice actor was murdered and his soul now possesses the animatronic."
Michael's eyes widened even more, "What?!"
Natalie laughed, "I'm just kidding... or am I?"
Michael was on the verge of a panic attack, but then he noticed something. Natalie's tone had changed, she was no longer trying to scare him, but rather, she was flirting with him. Making playful insults and teasing him.
"You know, you're a lot more fun than I thought you'd be. Most newbies are boring."
Michael, caught off guard by Natalie's sudden change in behavior, found himself drawn to her. He couldn't help but notice how her eyes sparkled when she smiled, and how her laughter filled the room.
Natalie, sensing Michael's attraction, made a move, kissing him deeply. Michael, surprised but excited, kissed her back, forgetting all about the animatronics and the dangers of the night.
As they broke apart, Michael looked into Natalie's eyes, "I thought you were trying to scare me."
Natalie chuckled, "I was, but then I realized I didn't have to. You're scared enough as it is."
Michael smiled, "Yeah, but at least I have you to keep me company."
Natalie smiled back, "Exactly. And who knows, maybe we'll have more shifts together."
As the night went on, Michael found himself enjoying Natalie's company more and more. He realized that she wasn't just a strong, controlling and direct woman, but also a kind and caring person. And as the night came to an end, he couldn't help but feel grateful for his first shift at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
