The air was thick with dust and the scent of disuse as Scarlett and Ruby crept through the dimly lit halls of the abandoned research facility. Their armor, a sleek and formidable sight, gleamed dully in the low light as they moved with practiced ease, their footsteps muffled.
"You're sure about this, Scarlett?" Ruby whispered, her voice barely carrying over the silence.
Scarlett's answering grin was a flash of white in the darkness. "Come on, Ruby. When have I ever led you astray?"
Ruby snorted, but didn't respond. She knew better than to question Scarlett's instincts in the field. The other woman had a knack for finding valuable intel, a knack that had kept them both alive and kicking in the face of the Covenant's relentless onslaught.
Their easy banter was cut short as they rounded a corner and stumbled upon a group of Covenant soldiers. The air crackled with tension as they took in the sight of their enemies, and without a word, the fight was on.
Scarlett and Ruby moved with a deadly grace, their weapons singing as they took down soldier after soldier. They were a well-oiled machine, a lethal duo that had faced countless battles together. But for all their skill, they were soon overpowered by a towering Brute.
With a cruel grin, the Brute cornered Scarlett, pinning her down with his massive frame. She didn't let fear show on her face, instead taunting the Brute with a sneer. "You're weak. Pathetic."
The Brute's grin widened, and he began to unbuckle his belt. Scarlett felt a surge of disgust and fear as the Brute leered at her, but she didn't let it show. Instead, she continued to taunt him, her voice dripping with disdain.
The Brute's rage was palpable as he began to rape Scarlett, using his strength to overpower her. Ruby, seeing her comrade in distress, tried to intervene, but was held back by another Covenant soldier.
In a fit of rage, Ruby grabbed a nearby weapon and shot the soldier, freeing herself. She rushed to Scarlett's side, trying to pull the Brute off of her. But it was too late. The Brute had already released a flood of parasites into Scarlett's body.
Scarlett, still conscious, felt the parasites wriggling inside of her. She knew she was infected, and a wave of despair washed over her. But even in the face of certain death, she didn't lose her spirit.
With her last ounce of strength, she pulled Ruby in for a kiss. Ruby's eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't pull away. She held Scarlett close, tears streaming down her face as she whispered words of comfort.
The scene ended with Scarlett's body going limp, as the parasites consumed her from the inside out. Ruby's anguished cry echoed through the deserted halls, a testament to the bond they shared and the price Scarlett had paid.
