Forbidden Flames: A Sibling Seduction

Forbidden Flames: A Sibling Seduction

Chapter 1: Sparks in the Shadows

The air in the old family cabin was thick with the scent of pine and unspoken tension. Lila, a fiery 28-year-old with a sharp tongue and sharper wit, leaned against the creaky wooden counter, her dark eyes glinting with mischief as she watched her brother, Ethan, chop wood outside through the frost-kissed window. At 30, Ethan was all rugged edges—broad shoulders, calloused hands, and a smirk that could melt steel. They hadn’t seen each other in years, not since the messy fallout with their parents, but this weekend retreat to settle the estate had dragged them back into each other’s orbit.

Lila sipped her whiskey, the burn matching the heat pooling in her chest. She’d always noticed Ethan—too much, too deeply—but she’d buried it under snark and distance. Now, with no one else for miles, the silence between them crackled like a live wire. The door swung open, and Ethan stomped in, his flannel shirt clinging to his sweat-slicked chest, axe still in hand.

“Damn, Lila, you gonna sit there sipping like a queen while I do all the grunt work?” he teased, wiping his brow with a grin that made her stomach flip.

She arched a brow, setting her glass down with a deliberate clink. “I’m supervising, big brother. Someone’s gotta make sure you don’t chop off a finger. Besides, I look better sitting pretty than swinging an axe.”

Ethan chuckled, low and rough, dropping the axe by the door. “Oh, you think you’re pretty? News to me. Last I checked, you were just a pain in my ass.”

“Careful,” she shot back, stepping closer, her voice dripping with challenge. “Keep talking like that, and I might just show you how much of a pain I can be.” Her gaze flicked down to his lips, then back up, daring him to cross the line they’d both been toeing for years.

He didn’t back down. Instead, he closed the gap, his breath hot against her cheek as he towered over her. “You’ve got a mouth on you, Lila. Always did. But I’m not the kid who backs off from a fight anymore.”

Her heart slammed against her ribs, but she didn’t flinch. “Good. I’m not looking for a kid. I’m looking for someone who can keep up.” She tilted her chin, her lips a whisper from his, the heat of his body igniting something reckless in her core.

Ethan’s eyes darkened, a storm brewing behind them. “You sure you wanna play this game, sis? ‘Cause I don’t play nice.”

“Nice is boring,” she purred, her fingers brushing the edge of his shirt, feeling the hard planes of muscle beneath. “Show me what you’ve got, Ethan. Or are you all talk?”

His hand shot to her waist, pulling her flush against him, the evidence of his arousal pressing insistently against her hip. “Keep pushing, Lila, and you’ll find out just how hard I can be.”

Her breath hitched, but she smirked, undeterred. “Promises, promises. I’m not some fragile flower, brother dearest. If you’re gonna make a move, make it count.”

The cabin seemed to shrink around them, the world narrowing to the heat of their bodies and the forbidden edge of their words. Ethan’s grip tightened, his other hand sliding up to tangle in her hair as he growled, “You asked for it.”

Their lips crashed together, a collision of pent-up hunger and raw defiance, tongues battling for dominance as they stumbled back against the counter. Lila’s hands roamed his chest, nails digging into his skin, while his fingers slipped under her shirt, igniting fire across her flesh. The line they’d danced around for so long was obliterated, and as they tore at each other’s clothes, the promise of something explosive loomed—hard, wild, and utterly untamed.
