Chapter 1: Sparks in the Shadows
The Sharma household buzzed with the usual evening chaos—clattering dishes, distant TV chatter, and the occasional reprimand from their mother. But in the dimly lit corridor leading to the back balcony, a different kind of tension simmered. Rohan Sharma, the family’s notorious troublemaker, leaned against the wall, his muscular frame barely contained by a tight black tee, smirking at his elder sister, Karuna, who stood with her arms crossed, her sharp eyes narrowing at him.
‘So, bhaiya, planning to sneak out again tonight?’ Karuna’s voice dripped with sarcasm, her tone cutting like a knife. At 26, she was the family’s pillar of responsibility, but her fiery spirit matched Rohan’s in every way. Her kurti clung to her curves, and the way her hips tilted as she challenged him didn’t go unnoticed.
Rohan chuckled, stepping closer, his dark eyes glinting with mischief. ‘And what if I am, didi? Gonna snitch on me like a good little girl?’ His voice was low, teasing, but laced with a dangerous edge. He towered over her at 5’10”, his gym-honed biceps flexing subtly as he adjusted his stance.
Karuna didn’t flinch. Instead, she stepped forward, closing the gap, her breath hot against his chest. ‘Don’t test me, Rohan. I’m not one of your college sluts who’ll fall for that cheap charm.’ Her words were venomous, but her gaze flicked down to his lips for a split second before returning to his eyes.
‘Cheap charm?’ Rohan grinned, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. ‘Oh, come on, didi. You’ve been staring at me since I got back from the gym. Don’t pretend you haven’t noticed how hard I’ve been working on this body.’ He flexed deliberately, knowing damn well the effect he had. His confidence was infuriating—and intoxicating.
Karuna’s jaw tightened, but a faint flush crept up her neck. ‘You’re disgusting,’ she snapped, though her voice wavered just enough to betray her. ‘Keep your horny little fantasies to yourself.’
‘Horny, huh?’ Rohan’s smirk widened as he leaned in, his lips dangerously close to her ear. ‘Bet you’re wondering just how hard I can get, right here, right now.’ His words were a challenge, a dare, and the air between them crackled with forbidden heat.
Karuna’s breath hitched, but she shoved him back with a firm hand on his chest, her nails digging into his skin through the fabric. ‘Back off, Rohan. You don’t want to start something you can’t finish.’ Her voice was a growl, but her eyes burned with something more than anger—something primal.
Rohan caught her wrist, pulling her closer in one swift motion, their bodies now pressed against each other. ‘Oh, I always finish what I start, didi. And trust me, I’ve got plenty to give.’ His other hand slid to her waist, bold and unapologetic, as his gaze dropped to her lips. He could feel her trembling, not out of fear, but out of the same raw, unspoken desire that pulsed through him.
The balcony door was just steps away, the shadows promising secrecy. Karuna’s resistance wavered as her chest heaved, her body betraying her sharp tongue. ‘You’re playing with fire, Rohan,’ she warned, but her voice was softer now, almost a plea.
‘Good,’ he murmured, his grip tightening, his breath hot against her neck. ‘I like it when it burns.’
Their lips were inches apart, the tension ready to snap, when the distant call of their mother broke the spell. But the fire had already been lit, and as Rohan released her with a wicked grin, both knew this was only the beginning of a dangerous game.
