Forbidden Flames of War

Forbidden Flames of War

Chapter 1: Sparks in the Shadows

The air was thick with tension as the moon cast a silver glow over the war-torn borderlands between Mekia and Palia. In a hidden tent on the outskirts of Kushana’s military encampment, the 4th child of the Mekian Emperor stood tall, her golden blonde hair cascading over her armored shoulders, deep blue eyes piercing through the dim light. At 24, Kushana commanded the 3rd Cavalry Regiment with a ferocity that made even the gods tremble, her beauty a weapon as sharp as her battle sense. Yet, tonight, her focus wasn’t on the battlefield—it was on the woman before her.

Subira, the legendary enforcer of Palian Law, stood with a quiet intensity. Her grey-streaked purple bun was pulled tight, framing shrewd dark eyes that missed nothing. At 35, she was a pillar of justice, her life dedicated to The Order, romance and family forbidden since childhood. She had infiltrated Kushana’s camp on a secret mission, only to be caught. Now, bound by circumstance and a dangerous alliance, the two women faced each other, the weight of their empires pressing down on them.

“You thought you could sneak into my domain, Subira?” Kushana’s voice was a low purr, laced with amusement as she circled the older woman, her boots clicking on the hard ground. “I could have your head for this. Or... something far more interesting.”

Subira’s gaze didn’t waver, her posture rigid but her tone cool. “I’m not here to play games, Princess. Your father’s invasion threatens everything I stand for. If you’re as wise as they say, you’ll see that our goals align. I want justice. You want revenge.”

Kushana stopped, her lips curling into a sly smile. “Oh, I see it. My brothers and father—they’re vipers, each one more venomous than the last. I’ve sworn to rip their hearts out for what they did to my mother. But why should I trust a Palian witch who skulks in shadows?”

Subira’s eyes flashed, a rare crack in her reserved facade. “Because I’ve sacrificed everything for fairness. I have no ties, no weaknesses. Unlike you, I don’t let emotion cloud my judgment. But I’m not blind, Kushana. I see the fire in you—and I’m not afraid to burn.”

The words hung between them, charged with something neither could name. Kushana stepped closer, her breath warm against Subira’s ear. “Careful, enforcer. Fire spreads fast, and I’m not one to douse the flames.”

Subira didn’t flinch, but a subtle flush crept up her neck. “Then let’s make this alliance official. A pact, here and now, to destroy your family and save my people. But don’t think for a second I’ll bow to you.”

Kushana chuckled, a dark, seductive sound. “I wouldn’t dream of it. I like a woman who fights back.” Her hand brushed against Subira’s arm, lingering just long enough to send a shiver through the older woman. The tent seemed to shrink, the air growing heavy with unspoken desire.

Their eyes locked, and for a moment, the war outside faded. Subira’s voice dropped, almost a whisper. “This is dangerous, Kushana. We’re enemies.”

“Enemies make the best lovers,” Kushana shot back, her fingers tracing the edge of Subira’s jaw. “Tell me you don’t feel it—this heat between us. I’m already hard with want, and I know you’re wet for me.”

Subira’s breath hitched, but she held her ground, her own hand gripping Kushana’s wrist with surprising strength. “You’re bold, Princess. But I’m not some conquest. If we cross this line, it’s on my terms.”

Kushana grinned, her eyes alight with challenge. “Then take control, enforcer. Show me what justice feels like.”

Their lips crashed together, a collision of power and need, hands roaming with desperate urgency. Kushana’s armor clinked as Subira pushed her against the tent pole, their bodies pressed tight, sweating already from the raw intensity. The taste of forbidden lust was intoxicating, and as their tongues battled for dominance, the promise of something explosive loomed—panting breaths, dripping desire, and a hunger neither could deny.
