Forbidden Flames

Forbidden Flames

**Chapter 1: The Spark Ignites**

The air in the upscale downtown bar was thick with the scent of expensive cologne and whispered secrets. Elena Voss sat at the polished counter, her crimson dress hugging every curve of her athletic frame, a glass of bourbon dangling between her manicured fingers. She wasn’t here for her husband, Mark, who was likely buried in spreadsheets at home. No, tonight was about her—her desires, her rules.

Across the room, a pair of dark, hungry eyes locked onto hers. Julian Drake, a man with a reputation for breaking hearts and beds, leaned against the wall, his tailored suit doing little to hide the raw power of his build. Elena smirked, catching the glint of challenge in his gaze. She tilted her head, an unspoken invitation, and he didn’t hesitate to cross the room.

“Mrs. Voss,” Julian drawled, his voice a low rumble as he slid onto the stool beside her. “Shouldn’t a woman like you be home, playing the dutiful wife?”

Elena’s laugh was sharp, cutting through the hum of the bar. “And shouldn’t a man like you be chasing something less... complicated? Or do you just love the thrill of a married woman’s attention?”

His lips curled into a wicked grin, and he leaned closer, the heat of his breath brushing her ear. “Complicated is my specialty, darling. And I’m betting you’re worth every damn risk.”

Her pulse quickened, but she didn’t flinch. Instead, she turned to face him, her green eyes blazing with defiance. “Big words, Drake. But I don’t play games I can’t win. So, tell me—can you keep up, or are you just another pretty face with empty promises?”

Julian’s hand brushed against hers on the counter, a deliberate, electric touch. “Oh, I’ve got more than promises, Elena. Step outside with me, and I’ll show you exactly what I mean.”

She arched a brow, her lips parting slightly as she considered the danger of his offer. The bourbon burned in her throat as she took a final sip, then slid off the stool with a predator’s grace. “Lead the way, then. But don’t think for a second I’m some damsel waiting to be swept off her feet. I take what I want.”

They slipped out into the cool night air, the alley behind the bar cloaked in shadows. The tension between them crackled like a live wire as Julian backed her against the brick wall, his hands hovering just inches from her hips. “You’re trouble, Elena Voss,” he murmured, his voice rough with want. “And I’m already fucking addicted.”

She grabbed his tie, pulling him closer until their lips were a breath apart. “Good. Because I don’t do half-measures. If we’re doing this, I want it hard, fast, and unforgettable. Think you can handle that?”

His growl was primal as he closed the gap, his mouth crashing into hers with a hunger that stole her breath. Her fingers dug into his shoulders, demanding more, as his hands finally gripped her ass, pulling her against the undeniable evidence of how horny he was. She could feel him, hard and ready through the fabric, and it made her wet with anticipation, her body already dripping with need. Their panting breaths mingled, sweat beading on their skin despite the cool night, as they teetered on the edge of something explosive.

But this was just the beginning.
