Chapter 1: Midnight Cravings
Annabel adjusted her silk blouse in the dim light of her parents’ upstairs bathroom, the faint hum of laughter from the birthday dinner still lingering in the air. Her mother’s celebration had been a success—too much wine, too many stories, and now, everyone was tucked away in bed. Everyone except her. And him.
The door creaked open, and Tom slipped inside, his broad shoulders filling the frame. Tattoos peeked out from under his rolled-up sleeves, and that smirk—God, that smirk—made her stomach twist in ways she hated to admit. She despised him. His rough edges, the way he swore like a sailor, the way he wasn’t good enough for Hollie. But damn, those arms, that jawline, the sheer animal energy radiating off him. She crossed her arms, pushing her ample chest forward, not backing down.
‘What the fuck are you doing in here, Tom?’ she hissed, her voice low but sharp as a whip. ‘Hollie’s asleep downstairs, and so is Hugh. You’ve got some nerve.’
He leaned against the sink, unfazed, his dark eyes raking over her. ‘Could say the same to you, princess. You’ve been eye-fucking me all night across that dinner table. Don’t play coy now.’
Her cheeks flushed, but she didn’t flinch. ‘You’re delusional. I wouldn’t touch you with a ten-foot pole. You’re my sister’s boyfriend, for Christ’s sake.’
Tom chuckled, a low, gravelly sound that sent a shiver down her spine. He stepped closer, the scent of his cologne mixing with something raw and masculine. ‘Keep telling yourself that, Annabel. But I see it. You’re bored. Hugh’s a nice guy, sure, but he ain’t got what I’ve got. And you’re dying to find out.’
She scoffed, but her breath hitched as he closed the distance, his hand brushing against her hip. ‘You’re a pig. You think I’d risk everything for a quick fuck with a Neanderthal like you?’
‘Oh, darlin’, it wouldn’t be quick. I’d take my sweet time with that tight little body of yours.’ His voice dropped, rough and hungry, as his fingers traced the edge of her skirt. ‘Bet you’re already wet just thinking about it.’
Annabel’s pulse raced, her resolve crumbling under the heat of his gaze. She hated how right he was. She hated how her thighs clenched at the thought of him, how her body betrayed her with every word. ‘You’re disgusting,’ she snapped, but her voice lacked conviction.
‘Then push me away,’ he challenged, his hand sliding up her thigh, under her skirt, finding the lace of her panties. ‘Go on. Tell me to stop.’
She didn’t. Instead, her lips crashed into his, a collision of anger and raw need. His mouth was hot, demanding, and she matched him with equal ferocity, her nails digging into his shoulders. He groaned, lifting her onto the counter with ease, her legs wrapping around his waist as she felt the hard bulge in his jeans press against her.
‘Fuck, you’re a firecracker,’ he growled against her neck, his teeth grazing her skin as his hands gripped her ass. ‘Knew you’d be trouble.’
‘Shut up and do something useful with that mouth,’ she shot back, her fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer. Her pussy throbbed with anticipation, already dripping for him, and she hated herself for it. But God, she needed this. Needed him.
His grin was wicked as he yanked her panties aside, his fingers teasing her slick folds. ‘Bossy, huh? I like that.’ He dropped to his knees, his breath hot against her inner thigh, and she bit her lip to stifle a moan. The risk, the danger—it only made her hornier. Downstairs, Hugh and Hollie slept, oblivious, while here she was, about to let this bastard devour her.
And as his tongue flicked against her, sending a jolt of pleasure through her core, she knew there was no turning back.
