Chapter 1: A Dangerous Glimpse
The summer heat clung to the old family cabin like a lover’s desperate embrace, thick and unrelenting. Inside, the air was heavy with the scent of pine and something far more intoxicating—temptation. Ethan, all of twenty-two, had come to the cabin for a weekend escape with his extended family, but he hadn’t expected to stumble upon a sight that would sear itself into his mind.
He’d been wandering the creaky halls late at night, unable to sleep, when he passed by the half-open door of his cousin Lila’s room. At nineteen, Lila was a force of nature—sharp-tongued, fiercely independent, and with a body that could stop traffic. There she was, sprawled across the bed, her tank top riding up to reveal the curve of her hip, her panties slipped halfway down her thighs. The moonlight painted her skin in silver, and Ethan froze, his breath catching in his throat. He knew he should look away, but the forbidden allure pinned him in place.
“Enjoying the view, creep?” Lila’s voice cut through the silence like a blade, her eyes snapping open. She didn’t move to cover herself, didn’t flinch. Instead, she propped herself up on her elbows, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.
Ethan stammered, his face burning. “I—I didn’t mean to—shit, Lila, I was just passing by.”
“Bullshit,” she shot back, her gaze raking over him with an intensity that made his skin prickle. “You’ve been staring at me like a starving dog since we got here. Don’t pretend you’re innocent.”
He swallowed hard, his hands clenching at his sides. “And what if I have? You’re the one lying there half-naked, begging for attention.”
Lila laughed, low and dangerous, swinging her legs off the bed and standing up. She didn’t bother fixing her panties, letting them hang low as she sauntered toward him. “Begging? Sweetie, I don’t beg for anything. But if you’ve got the balls to admit what you want, I might just entertain the idea.”
Ethan’s pulse thundered in his ears. She was close now, so close he could feel the heat radiating off her body. Her scent—wild and untamed—filled his senses. “This is fucked up, Lila. We’re family.”
“Only by blood, not by choice,” she purred, her fingers brushing against his chest, sending a jolt straight through him. “Tell me you don’t want to know what it feels like to cross that line. Tell me you’re not already hard just thinking about it.”
He couldn’t lie. Not when her words hit like a punch, stirring something primal in him. His jaw tightened, and he grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Lila. You sure you can handle the consequences?”
Her smirk widened, her eyes glinting with challenge. “Try me, cousin. I don’t break easy.”
Their faces were inches apart now, the tension crackling like a live wire. Ethan’s grip on her wrist tightened, and Lila’s breath hitched—just for a moment—before she leaned in, her lips brushing against his ear. “Don’t be shy now. I can feel how much you want this.”
And just like that, the dam broke. Ethan crushed his mouth against hers, the kiss raw and hungry, tasting the forbidden. Her hands were in his hair, pulling hard, as she pressed her body against his. They stumbled back toward the bed, the world narrowing to the heat of their skin, the sound of their ragged breaths, and the undeniable pull of something they both knew they shouldn’t want—but couldn’t resist.
