Forbidden Heat

Forbidden Heat

Chapter 1: Simmering Tension

The summer air hung heavy with the scent of blooming jasmine as Cody leaned against the old oak tree in his backyard, his eyes fixed on Jessica. She was sprawled on a blanket a few feet away, her chubby frame wrapped in a loose sundress that clung to her curves in all the right places. At eighteen, they were both teetering on the edge of something dangerous, something unspoken. Hormones raged like wildfire, and every glance, every accidental brush of skin, felt like a spark waiting to ignite.

'Jess, you gonna just lie there all day or actually do something?' Cody teased, his voice cracking slightly with nerves. He was shy, always had been, but around her, he felt a need to push, to test boundaries. His dark hair fell into his hazel eyes as he smirked, trying to mask the way his heart thundered in his chest.

Jessica rolled her eyes, propping herself up on her elbows. Her cheeks flushed, not just from the heat, but from the way his gaze lingered on her. She was shy too, painfully so, and hated how her body betrayed her with every nervous flutter. 'Maybe I like lying here, Cody. Ever think of that? Or are you just bored ‘cause you’ve got nothing better to stare at?' Her tone was sharp, a defense mechanism to keep him at arm’s length. She wasn’t ready for whatever this was between them.

He chuckled, low and rough, stepping closer. 'Oh, I’ve got plenty to stare at, trust me. You’re just too damn stubborn to notice.' His words carried a heat that made her squirm, and she hated how much she liked it. Cody’s shy exterior was cracking, revealing a hunger beneath. He dropped down beside her, closer than necessary, his knee brushing hers. The contact sent a jolt through him, and he bit his lip to keep from saying something stupid.

'Back off, perv,' Jessica snapped, but her voice wavered. She shifted away, though not far enough. Her breath hitched as she caught the way his eyes darkened, the way his fingers twitched like he wanted to reach for her. 'You’re always... always looking at me like that. What’s your deal?'

'My deal?' Cody’s voice dropped, a mix of frustration and raw need. 'My deal is you, Jess. You’re driving me fuckin’ crazy, and you don’t even know it. Or maybe you do, and you’re just playing games.' He leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. 'Tell me you don’t feel it too. Tell me you’re not as horny as I am right now.'

Her eyes widened, a mix of shock and something hotter flashing across her face. 'Cody, we can’t—' she started, but her words faltered as his hand grazed her thigh, just under the hem of her dress. Her skin burned under his touch, and she hated how much she wanted more. She was wet already, damn it, and the thought made her cheeks flame brighter. 'This is wrong. We’re... we’re family.'

'Doesn’t feel wrong,' he murmured, his voice thick with desire. His fingers lingered, testing her resolve, and he could feel his own body reacting, growing hard just from being this close. 'Feels like the only thing that makes sense.'

Jessica’s breath came faster, her chest rising and falling as she wrestled with herself. She shoved his hand away, but there was no real force behind it. 'You’re an idiot,' she hissed, but her eyes betrayed her, darting to his lips. 'A stupid, pushy idiot.'

'Then stop me,' Cody challenged, his voice a low growl. He moved closer, his body hovering over hers now, the heat between them unbearable. 'Tell me to fuck off, Jess. ‘Cause if you don’t, I’m gonna kiss you, and I don’t think I’ll stop there.'

Her lips parted, a protest dying on her tongue as the tension snapped like a taut wire. She didn’t stop him. She couldn’t. And as his mouth crashed into hers, hungry and desperate, the world around them melted away, leaving only the promise of something explosive, something they’d both been craving for far too long.
