Forbidden Shades of Blue

Forbidden Shades of Blue

Chapter 1: Temptation's Edge

The air in the cramped living room of our old apartment was thick with the scent of rain and unspoken tension. I, Sally Face—Sal to those who know me—lounged on the worn-out couch, my light blue hair tied back in two messy ponytails, the oversized dark gray sweater slipping off one shoulder as I toyed with the sleeves that swallowed my hands. My torn pale red jeans hugged my thighs just right, and I knew it. I’d caught Todd’s eyes lingering more than once today, those nerdy glasses of his doing little to hide the heat behind them.

Todd, my older brother, sat at the rickety desk in the corner, his curly orange hair a wild mess as he hunched over some tech manual. That turquoise sweatshirt with the dark sleeves made him look like a cozy genius, but I knew better. Underneath all that brainy exterior was a man who could unravel if pushed just right. And I was in the mood to push.

'Hey, brainiac,' I called out, my voice a teasing lilt as I swung my legs over the armrest of the couch, letting my sneakers dangle. 'You gonna bury yourself in that book all day, or are you gonna play with me for once?'

Todd adjusted his glasses, not looking up. 'Sal, I’ve got work to do. Stop being a pest.'

I smirked, sliding off the couch with a deliberate slowness, my hips swaying just enough to catch his peripheral vision. 'A pest? Oh, come on, Todd. I’m more like a kitten—cute, cuddly, and desperate for attention.' I sauntered over, leaning against his desk, my sweater slipping further to reveal the curve of my collarbone. 'Don’t you wanna pet me?'

His jaw tightened, and I saw the faintest flush creep up his neck. 'Sal, cut it out. This isn’t funny.'

'Who said I’m joking?' I shot back, my light blue eyes locking with his. I leaned in closer, my voice dropping to a husky whisper. 'I’ve seen the way you look at me, big brother. Like you’re starving, and I’m the only thing on the menu.'

Todd pushed his chair back, standing abruptly, his green pants doing little to hide the tension in his frame. 'You don’t know what you’re talking about,' he snapped, but his voice wavered, and I knew I had him on the ropes.

I stepped closer, my chest brushing against his, the heat between us crackling like a live wire. 'Don’t I? Then why’re you sweating already, huh? Why’re your hands shaking like you’re dying to grab me?' I tilted my head, my lips curling into a wicked grin. 'Go on, Todd. Touch me. I dare you.'

His breath hitched, and for a moment, I thought he’d break. His eyes darkened, pupils blown wide with something dangerous, something hungry. My heart raced, a thrill shooting straight through me, making me ache in places I shouldn’t. I could feel myself getting wet just from the way he looked at me, like he was seconds from tearing into me.

'Sal,' he growled, his voice low and rough, 'you’re playing with fire.'

I laughed, sharp and daring, pressing myself against him fully now, feeling the hard outline of him through his pants. 'Good. I like it hot.'

And just as his hands twitched toward my hips, the air between us ready to ignite, I knew we were teetering on the edge of something we couldn’t come back from. Something forbidden, something explosive. I wanted it. I wanted him. And I wasn’t about to stop until I had him panting, dripping with need, and completely mine.
